AI phone answering for your business
A salon virtual receptionist from AllDayDesk is an AI receptionist that answers your salon's phone around the clock using the business details you save. It answers questions about your services and hours, takes messages when it doesn't know an answer, sends appointment changes to you as requests, and can transfer calls you configure it to transfer. You keep your existing salon number by forwarding calls, and setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Salon phones ring at the worst times: mid-color, mid-cut, or after closing. AllDayDesk answers your forwarded calls around the clock using the business information you save, so callers get a real conversation instead of voicemail. It is an AI receptionist, not a person, and it handles four jobs well.
First, it answers questions. Callers ask about services, prices, hours, parking, or whether you offer a certain treatment, and it answers from your saved details. Second, it captures booking requests. A caller can ask for a haircut or color appointment, and the request is recorded for you. Third, it takes messages. When it doesn't know an answer or a price, it says so and takes a message instead of guessing. Fourth, it can transfer a call to you when you have set up a transfer destination and rules. Transfers depend on your configuration, and neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed.
Changes to existing appointments are requests for you, not confirmed changes. If a regular client calls to move a standing color appointment, you review the request and make the change yourself.
When a caller wants to book, the receptionist records the request with the service, preferred time, and caller contact details. New appointments are placed on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability in the dashboard.
If you already run your schedule in Google Calendar, you can connect it in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account. That is the only external calendar connection AllDayDesk supports. AllDayDesk does not connect to salon industry scheduling software or other third-party calendars, so if your bookings live in a different salon system, you would review dashboard bookings and enter them there yourself.
The sample call you hear during setup creates no real booking, so you can test the experience without touching your schedule.
You keep your public salon phone number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk. The exact steps depend on your phone service, so check which carrier and product you have before entering any codes. Your salon line may be a mobile line or a business landline, and the two use different instructions.
On Verizon mobile, dial *72 plus the 10-digit destination to forward all calls, *71 plus the destination for unanswered calls, and *73 to turn forwarding off. Setup must be done from the phone while in Verizon coverage, and it forwards calls only, not texts. On a Verizon business landline, dial *72 and follow the activation instructions, and *73 to deactivate from the same line. T-Mobile uses different codes: **21*1 followed by the destination and # forwards all calls, **61*1 for no-reply, **62*1 for unreachable, and **67*1 for busy, with ## codes to disable each and ##004# to reset to defaults. Check that your service and device support these.
For Optimum Business Phone, dial *72, wait for dial tone, dial the destination, and confirm the destination answers; *73 turns it off. For Frontier Unlimited Digital Voice, lift the handset, dial *72, wait for the second dial tone, enter the destination, and listen for confirmation; *73 disables it. Spectrum Business Voice manages forwarding in the online portal under Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager, where you choose all calls or busy/no-answer and set the destination. AT&T Phone for Business uses *72 with # for all calls, *92 for no-answer, and *90 for busy, each disabled with the matching off code. Vonage Business Communications enables forwarding to a phone number from the Call Forwarding setting, and Comcast Business features are managed through My Account or the Comcast Business App depending on which voice product you subscribe to.
One important limit: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a workable path to AllDayDesk.

Setup starts by choosing your business from a list or entering your website, so the receptionist can pull your public details. You then check those details, correct anything wrong, and add salon-specific information such as your service list, prices you're willing to share, and hours.
Next you hear a personalized sample of how the receptionist would sound answering for your salon. This sample is a preview only and creates no real booking. Finally, you choose your phone setup, which is where the forwarding steps above come in.
After that, calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings all appear in your dashboard, so you can review messages between clients and confirm booking requests on your own schedule.
Human answering services exist for salons too. Ruby offers human virtual receptionists with plans starting at $245 per month as of October 9, 2026, and Smith.ai sells per-call human receptionist plans whose cost depends on the options you select. Starting prices are not complete comparisons; you would need each quote's included allowance, overage rates, hours, and contract terms to compare fairly.
AllDayDesk is this site's own product, and this comparison covers documented features rather than hands-on testing. The AI option answers around the clock from your saved details, takes messages, handles booking requests, and transfers configured calls. AllDayDesk pricing is displayed separately on this site, so you can compare its plans and included minutes directly against any human-service quote you receive. A human service may handle unusual or nuanced conversations differently; compare each quote's included allowance, overage rates, hours, and contract terms before deciding.
What neither option replaces is you behind the chair. Most salon owners answer their own phones during the day; a receptionist service covers the calls you can't reach.

AllDayDesk is an AI receptionist, not a person. It answers from your saved business details and takes a message whenever it doesn't know something, rather than guessing.
No. New appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, and the only external calendar connection is an optional Google Calendar connection you set up in Settings. Other salon scheduling software is not supported.
Changes to existing appointments are sent to you as requests, not confirmed changes. You review the request in your dashboard and make the change yourself.
Google explicitly does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path to AllDayDesk.
It takes a message with the caller's name and callback number so you can respond. It does not invent prices or answers.
Transfers work only after you configure a transfer destination and rules, and neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed. If you don't take a transferred call, the receptionist's behavior follows your configured setup.
Enter your salon's name or website, check the details it pulls, and listen to a personalized sample of your AI receptionist in action. The sample creates no real booking, so you can try it between clients.
