AI phone answering for your business
A call answering service for lawyers answers your firm's phone when you are in court, with a client, or simply away from your desk. AllDayDesk answers calls to your existing number around the clock using the business information you save, takes messages from callers, and can book consultations on your calendar. You keep your current phone number and forward your calls to AllDayDesk, so clients dial the same number they always have. Every call, transcript, summary, and booking shows up in your dashboard, so you can review messages and return calls when it fits your schedule. Setup starts by entering your firm's name or website, checking the details AllDayDesk finds, listening to a personalized sample, and then choosing how to forward your phone.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
When you are in a hearing or meeting with a client, the phone keeps ringing. A call answering service handles those calls so a potential client reaches a helpful voice instead of a ringing phone or a plain voicemail box. AllDayDesk answers using your saved firm information, so callers hear about your practice areas, office location, and how consultations work.
The service is built around three practical jobs: answering questions from your saved business details, taking messages when the caller needs something you must handle personally, and booking consultations. Messages and bookings land in your dashboard with a transcript and a summary of each call, so you always know who called and why.
You do not have to print new cards or change your listings. AllDayDesk works by forwarding your current number, so callers dial the same line they always have. The forwarding steps depend on your phone service, so AllDayDesk gives you instructions matched to your provider during setup.
For example, Verizon mobile lines activate all-call forwarding by dialing *72 plus the destination number and turn it off with *73, while T-Mobile uses **21*1 followed by the destination and # for unconditional forwarding. Business landline and hosted systems like Comcast Business Voice, Spectrum Business Voice, and Vonage Business Communications manage forwarding through their own portals or codes, and the exact steps depend on which product you subscribe to. If you use Google Voice, note that Google does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so you would forward a different line instead.

New consultations are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can connect Google Calendar in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account, and the service can use that calendar instead.
Not every call needs an appointment. When a caller asks something AllDayDesk cannot answer from your saved details, such as a fee amount or the status of a case, it takes a message for you instead of guessing. Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests, not confirmed changes, so you stay in control of your schedule.
Setup follows four simple steps. First, choose your business or enter your firm's website so AllDayDesk can gather your details. Second, check that the information it found is accurate and add anything missing, such as practice areas or consultation availability. Third, hear a personalized sample of how your calls will be answered. The sample is a preview only and creates no real booking. Fourth, choose your phone setup option and follow the forwarding instructions for your provider.
After that, calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings appear in your dashboard. You can review everything from one place and return calls on your own schedule.
Law firms generally weigh three kinds of phone coverage. A human virtual receptionist service, such as Ruby or Smith.ai's live receptionist plans, uses trained people to answer calls; Ruby advertises plans starting at $245 per month as of October 2026, and Smith.ai prices per call, so you should compare current quotes, included minutes or calls, and contract terms directly. An in-house receptionist handles phones plus greeting visitors and other office tasks, which is a broader role than a phone service replaces. An automated service like AllDayDesk answers around the clock using your saved business details and books on your calendar.
When comparing options, look at what each one actually documents: coverage hours, how messages reach you, whether booking is included, and what happens to your existing number. AllDayDesk is this site's own product, and this comparison is based on published feature pages rather than hands-on testing of each service.

Some calls deserve to reach you directly, such as a caller who insists on speaking with the attorney. AllDayDesk can transfer calls to a destination you choose, but you must configure the transfer destination and the rules for when transfers happen first. A transfer is an attempt to reach you, not a guaranteed connection, so there is no promise that you will pick up or respond immediately.
Because of that, the service treats anything it cannot resolve as a message. A caller who needs a fee quote, a case update, or an appointment outside your configured availability is asked for their details, and the message appears in your dashboard with a transcript and summary.

AllDayDesk can transfer calls to a destination you configure, along with rules for when transfers happen. A transfer is an attempt, not a guaranteed connection, so pickup and immediate response are not promised.
If a price or answer is not in your saved business information, AllDayDesk takes a message instead of guessing. You see the message, transcript, and summary in your dashboard and can respond yourself.
