You keep your existing phone number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and every call, transcript, summary and booking shows up in your dashboard. Why electricians use a phone answering service

Electrical work keeps your hands busy. You cannot safely answer a call while pulling wire, troubleshooting a breaker panel, or working on a job site. When a call goes unanswered, the caller often moves on to the next electrician on their list. A phone answering service covers that gap: calls are answered with your business information, callers get their questions handled or leave a message, and you review everything later in one place.

AllDayDesk answers around the clock, so evening and weekend callers reach your business instead of raw voicemail. Around-the-clock availability is not a promise that every call connects, but it means your line is covered during the hours you are working, driving, or asleep.

Most owners answer their own phones rather than hiring office staff, so the service works as a backup to you, not a replacement for an employee. When a caller asks something you have not saved, like a price you have not published, the service takes a message instead of guessing.

  • Answers with your saved business name, services and policies
  • Takes messages when an answer, price or appointment is unknown
  • Shows calls, transcripts, summaries and bookings in your dashboard

Call situations AllDayDesk handles for electricians

Electrical calls follow patterns. Here is how each common situation plays out with an automated receptionist:

  • Job-site calls: you are mid-task, so you forward your line and keep working. The service answers, and you check the summary when you break.
  • After-hours inquiries: evening callers hear your business information and can leave a message or request an appointment, which you review the next morning.
  • Appointment requests: callers can book into your calendar once you have configured your services and availability. New appointments go to the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default.
  • Existing appointment changes: a caller asking to move or cancel an appointment creates a request for you to review and confirm. Changes are not confirmed automatically.
  • Urgent-sounding calls: the service does not perform emergency dispatch or medical-style triage. It takes a message so you can decide how to respond.
  • Unknown questions: if a caller asks about a price or service you have not saved, the service takes a message rather than inventing an answer.

How setup works

Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, then you hear a personalized sample of how your calls would be answered. The sample creates no real booking, so you can listen without affecting your schedule. Once you are satisfied, you choose your phone setup option.

You keep your public phone number. You forward calls to AllDayDesk, and the exact instructions depend on your phone service. For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination number for all-call forwarding and *73 to turn it off, while T-Mobile uses **21*1 plus the destination and # for unconditional forwarding. Other providers use portals or different codes, so check the guide for your carrier.

Transfers to you are possible once you configure a destination and rules for when they happen. Neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed on a transfer, so messages remain the reliable record of who called and why.

  • Choose your business or enter its website
  • Check the details AllDayDesk found
  • Hear a personalized sample (no real booking is created)
  • Choose phone setup and forward your existing number

Forwarding your electrician business line

The forwarding step depends entirely on who provides your phone service, and the product name matters as much as the brand. AT&T Phone for Business uses *92 for no-answer forwarding, but those codes do not apply to AT&T wireless or AT&T Collaborate, which use different ones. Comcast Business features depend on whether you have Voice Mobility, Business Voice, VoiceEdge, or Managed Voice. Identify the exact service on your bill before following any instructions.

One important limit: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path to AllDayDesk. If your number is with a carrier not listed here, contact their support and ask whether call forwarding to an outside number is supported on your plan.

  • Verizon mobile: *72 plus destination to forward all calls, *73 to disable
  • T-Mobile: **21*1 plus destination and # for unconditional, ##21# to disable
  • Optimum Business Phone: *72, wait for dial tone, dial destination; *73 turns it off
  • Spectrum Business Voice: managed in the SpectrumBusiness.net portal under Voice Settings
  • AT&T Phone for Business: *72 destination # for all calls, *92 for no-answer, *90 for busy

What you see in the dashboard

Every call leaves a record. The dashboard shows the call, a transcript of what was said, a summary, and any booking that was made. This replaces scribbled notes from voicemail and lets you prioritize callbacks without replaying messages.

New appointments land on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer Google Calendar, an optional connection is available in Settings after you connect and authorize your Google account. No other external calendars or industry scheduling software are supported connections.

  • Call records with transcripts and summaries
  • Bookings on the built-in dashboard calendar
  • Optional Google Calendar connection in Settings after authorization

Choosing between service options

Electricians generally compare three approaches: an automated receptionist like AllDayDesk, a human answering service, and doing nothing beyond voicemail. Human services such as AnswerConnect or Ruby staff calls with people, and their pricing and coverage vary by plan, so verify current quotes and included allowances directly. An in-house receptionist handles phones plus front-office tasks, which is a broader scope than a phone service.

AllDayDesk is this site's own product, so weigh that when comparing. Its documented features are around-the-clock automated answering using your saved business information, message taking, configured transfers, dashboard records, and booking into the built-in calendar or an optional Google Calendar connection. There are no hands-on comparison tests behind this page; compare documented features and current pricing against any alternative you are considering.

  • Automated receptionist: consistent answers around the clock using saved business details
  • Human answering service: people answer, with pricing and hours that vary by provider and plan
  • Voicemail only: no questions answered, no booking, caller gets no information

More questions, answered

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. You keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The forwarding steps depend on your phone service provider and product.

Can callers book appointments directly?

Yes, once you have configured your services and availability. New appointments go to the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, or to Google Calendar if you connect and authorize it in Settings.

What happens if a caller wants to reschedule?

A request to change an existing appointment is passed to you for review. Changes are requests, not confirmed changes, so you stay in control of your schedule.

Does it handle emergency dispatch?

No. AllDayDesk does not dispatch electricians or perform triage. For urgent-sounding calls, it takes a message so you can decide how to respond.

Will it quote prices to callers?

Only prices you have saved in your business information. When an answer or price is unknown, the service takes a message instead of guessing.

Can I forward my Google Voice number?

No. Google explicitly does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so that path is not compatible with AllDayDesk.
