AI phone answering for your business
An answering service for electricians answers your business phone when you are on a ladder, inside a panel, or off the clock. AllDayDesk answers calls around the clock using your saved business information, takes messages, and can book new appointments into a calendar you control. You keep your existing phone number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and calls, transcripts, summaries and bookings are visible in your dashboard. Setup starts by choosing your electrical business or entering its website, checking the details, hearing a personalized sample, and then choosing how to forward your phone. The sample call creates no real booking, so you can listen before anything goes live.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Electrical work pulls you away from the phone. You are running wire, troubleshooting a breaker panel, or driving between jobs, and a caller who reaches voicemail may hang up without leaving details. An answering service keeps your line open so callers reach a voice that knows your business instead of a beep.
AllDayDesk is built around your saved business information. It answers in your business name, shares the details you approve, such as services and general pricing information you have saved, and collects the caller's name, number, and reason for calling. When a caller asks something you have not provided, like a firm quote for a specific repair, it takes a message so you can respond with accurate information.
Different calls need different handling, and it helps to know what to expect before you turn the service on.
A homeowner calling about a flickering light or a dead outlet gets an answer, basic saved information, and an offer to book an appointment if you have set up your calendar. A property manager calling during business hours while you are on a job gets the same treatment, plus a message if they need to discuss something specific. A caller with an urgent-sounding problem, like a burning smell or sparking outlet, gets a message so you can follow up quickly; AllDayDesk is not an emergency service, so callers in immediate danger should contact emergency services. A caller asking for a firm price on a panel upgrade gets a message, because AllDayDesk does not invent prices it does not have.
Changes to existing appointments are treated as requests for you, not confirmed changes. If a caller wants to move a scheduled job, you will see the request in your dashboard and decide whether to confirm it.
Setup starts by choosing your electrical business or entering its website so AllDayDesk can pull in your details. You then check that the information is correct, because that is what the service will use to answer questions. Next, you hear a personalized sample of how your calls will be answered. The sample creates no real booking, so it is safe to listen and adjust. Finally, you choose your phone setup.
Keeping your number means forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and the exact steps depend on your phone service. For example, Verizon mobile lines use *72 plus the destination number for all-call forwarding and *71 for unanswered calls, while Optimum Business Phone uses *72 with a confirmation tone. Other carriers use portals or different codes, so check the guide for your specific provider before activating.

New appointments go into the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. You decide which electrical services are bookable and when you can take them, and the service books within those limits.
If you prefer, an optional Google Calendar connection is supported in Settings after you connect and authorize your Google account. Other calendar systems and industry scheduling software are not part of AllDayDesk, so plan around that when choosing where your schedule lives.
Calls, transcripts, summaries and bookings appear in your dashboard, so you can review what was said while you were on a job and confirm or adjust anything before the work day starts.
Some calls you will want to take yourself, like a longtime commercial client or a caller who insists on speaking with the owner. AllDayDesk can transfer calls, but you must configure a transfer destination and the rules for when transfers happen. A transfer is not guaranteed to be picked up or answered immediately, so treat transfers as one tool among several.
For everything else, the ordinary flow is message taking. When an answer, a price, or an appointment is unknown, AllDayDesk takes a message with the caller's details so nothing depends on reaching you live.
You have a few ways to handle calls, and each fits a different situation. This comparison covers documented features of each option rather than hands-on testing, and AllDayDesk is this site's own product.
Doing it yourself with voicemail costs nothing extra but gives callers no answers and no booking. Hiring an in-house receptionist adds a person who can also greet visitors and handle office tasks, which goes well beyond phone answering, but it is a significant commitment. Human answering services, such as Ruby or Smith.ai, put people on your line; Ruby advertises plans starting at $245 per month as of October 9, 2026, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing. AllDayDesk uses an AI receptionist that answers around the clock from your saved business information, with plans and pricing shown separately on this page.
