AI phone answering for your business
An automated front desk system is a phone service that answers your business line for you. Instead of a person at a desk, software greets the caller, answers questions using information you provide, takes messages, and can book appointments. AllDayDesk is this kind of system: it answers calls around the clock using your saved business details, and you keep your existing phone number by forwarding calls to it. This page explains what an automated front desk does, how setup works, what happens on a typical call, and how to decide whether it fits your business.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Think of it as the front desk of an office, handled by software instead of a person. When a call comes in, the system greets the caller, listens to what they need, and responds using the business information the owner saved. It can answer common questions, take a message, and book new appointments.
It is not a full replacement for every office task. An in-house receptionist may also greet visitors, handle mail, and do other work around the office, so compare scope rather than assuming a phone service covers everything a front desk employee does.
AllDayDesk answers business calls around the clock using the business information you save. You keep your public phone number. Calls reach AllDayDesk through forwarding, and the forwarding instructions depend on which phone service you use, so check your provider's steps before you start.
Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, then you hear a personalized sample of how your receptionist would sound. The sample is a preview only and creates no real booking. After that, you choose your phone setup option and finish forwarding your calls.
Once calls are handled, everything is visible in your dashboard: the calls themselves, transcripts, summaries, and any bookings that were made.
Forwarding is the step that sends your incoming calls to AllDayDesk, and the exact instructions depend on your phone provider. Most owners activate forwarding from their own phone or their provider's account portal. Check your provider's own documentation for your exact service, because steps differ between products from the same company.
For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the ten-digit destination for all-call forwarding and *73 to turn it off, while T-Mobile uses codes like **21*1 followed by the destination and #. Comcast Business, Spectrum Business Voice, Vonage Business Communications, and Frontier Digital Voice each manage forwarding through their own portals or feature codes, and the right steps depend on which product you actually subscribe to. If you are unsure which product you have, check your bill or ask your provider before entering any codes.

New appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account. Changes to existing appointments are requests for you to review, not confirmed changes, so you stay in control of your schedule.
The system can also transfer calls to you. Transfers require you to configure a destination number and rules, and neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed. When the system does not know an answer, a price, or an available appointment time, it takes a message so you can follow up yourself.
An automated front desk makes sense when your main need is reliable call handling: greeting callers, answering routine questions, taking messages, and booking appointments. If your calls involve complex judgment, sensitive intake, or conversations a person must handle, weigh that against what automation can do and consider a hybrid or human option.
Compare options on a few practical points. Check what each service actually does on a call, how appointments are handled, how you get your messages and transcripts, what happens with transfers, and how pricing works, including included minutes and overage rates. Human virtual receptionist services exist as well, and their costs and coverage vary by provider and plan, so request current quotes rather than relying on advertised starting prices alone.

Google states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported, so Google Voice is not a supported forwarding path for AllDayDesk.
