AI phone answering for your business
A call management app is a tool that helps a business owner handle incoming calls and messages without being tied to a desk phone. Instead of missing calls while you are on a job site, driving, or working after hours, the app answers calls for you, takes messages, and shows you everything in a dashboard you can open from your phone. AllDayDesk is a call management app that answers business calls around the clock using the business information you save. Callers hear a receptionist that knows your services, hours, and pricing details, and it can book new appointments on your calendar. You keep your existing phone number by forwarding your calls to AllDayDesk, and you check calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings in the dashboard whenever it works for you. This page explains what a call management app actually does day to day, what you can manage from your phone, how setup works, and what to check before you connect your number.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Most owners answer their own phone, which means calls compete with the work you are already doing. A call management app takes over the answering part. When a call comes in, the app's receptionist greets the caller, answers questions using the business details you saved, and takes a message when it does not know an answer, price, or open appointment time.
AllDayDesk works around the clock, so calls that come in during dinner, weekends, or holidays still get handled. Around-the-clock availability describes when the service is ready to answer, not a promise that every single call connects, but it means you are not relying on a voicemail box to catch everything.
The app is also where you stay in control. You are not handing your phone line to a stranger; you are setting the rules and checking the results from your phone or computer.
The main benefit of the app angle is freedom of location. You do not need to be in the office, or even near your business phone, to know what happened while you were away. Open the AllDayDesk dashboard from your phone and you can see every call that came in, read the transcript, review a short summary, and check any appointments that were booked.
This changes how you handle callbacks. Instead of listening to a vague voicemail and guessing at urgency, you can scan summaries, spot the callers who need you first, and call back with the details already in front of you. If a caller asked about a service you offer, the transcript tells you exactly what they said.
It also helps with changes to existing appointments. If a caller asks to move or cancel an existing appointment, that request is passed to you as a request for the owner, not a confirmed change. You review it in the dashboard and decide, so nothing shifts on your schedule without your approval.
Getting started does not require new hardware or a new phone number. You begin by choosing your business or entering its website, and AllDayDesk pulls together the details it will use to answer calls. You then check those details to make sure they match reality, because the receptionist can only be as accurate as the information you confirm.
Next, you hear a personalized sample so you know exactly how your receptionist will sound before anything goes live. The sample is a demonstration only and creates no real booking. Once you are happy with it, you choose your phone setup option.
The last step is forwarding your existing number to AllDayDesk. You keep your public number, so customers dial the same number they always have. The exact forwarding instructions depend on your phone service, so check our carrier guides for your provider.
Forwarding is the one step that depends on your carrier, and the instructions are not the same everywhere. Some mobile carriers use star codes from the phone itself. Verizon wireless, for example, activates all-call forwarding with *72 plus the 10-digit destination and turns it off with *73, while T-Mobile uses codes like **21*1 followed by the destination for unconditional forwarding. Business landline and VoIP products often manage forwarding through an online portal instead, such as Spectrum Business Voice's forwarding settings or the My Account tools Comcast Business provides.
Two things to verify with your own provider: first, whether your specific plan supports forwarding at all, since some prepaid and reseller plans do not; and second, whether you want all calls forwarded or only unanswered ones, because those are separate features with separate instructions. Our carrier guides cover the providers we have documented, and for anything else, your carrier's own support is the right place to confirm the exact steps.
One known limit: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path to AllDayDesk.

New appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer Google Calendar, AllDayDesk supports an optional connection in Settings: you connect and authorize your Google account, and it works alongside the built-in calendar. Other calendar programs and industry scheduling software are not part of the service.
Call transfers are also available, but they need configuration on your end. You set the transfer destination and the rules for when transfers happen. Because transfers depend on the destination line being available, neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed, so the service also takes ordinary messages when it cannot answer a question or complete a booking.
Knowing these limits up front helps you set the service up well. Configure your services and availability carefully so bookings land correctly, and set transfer rules only for situations where you genuinely want to be interrupted.
A call management app makes the most sense when you are the one answering the phone today and the interruptions are costing you focus. If you already have front-desk staff who handle calls all day, an app may play a smaller role. Ask yourself a few questions before choosing any tool, including this one.
First, where do your missed calls actually come from: after hours, while you are hands-busy, or during peak times? Second, do you want appointments booked directly, or only messages you act on later? Third, does the tool work with your current phone service, or would you need to change numbers or carriers? Fourth, what does the dashboard actually show you, since transcripts and summaries are what let you manage calls from anywhere.
Comparing options is also fair game. Human answering services exist alongside AI-based ones, and they differ in cost, style, and how they handle your account. Our comparison guide lays out the differences without picking a winner for you.
