AI phone answering for your business
A law firm 24 7 answering service answers your firm's phone day and night, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, so callers reach a real voice instead of voicemail. With AllDayDesk, an AI receptionist answers calls around the clock using your firm's saved business information. It can share your hours, practice areas, and general details, take messages, and book new consultations once you have set up your services and availability. You keep your existing phone number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and every call, transcript, summary, and booking shows up in your dashboard. When a caller asks something you have not provided an answer for, the service takes a message instead of guessing. This page explains how full-time coverage works for law firms, what decisions you should make before turning it on, and how to set it up.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Law firm calls do not follow office hours. A potential client may find your website at night, a current client may call on a Saturday about a hearing date, and a referral may dial your number on a holiday. With full-time coverage, each of those calls is answered by your receptionist service instead of ringing out.
AllDayDesk answers calls around the clock using the business information you save. It speaks with callers in your firm's voice, answers questions it has information for, collects messages for anything it cannot answer, and records what happened on each call. You can read transcripts and summaries in the dashboard at any time, so you always know who called and why, even if the call came in at 2 a.m.
Before choosing a plan, decide whether you want coverage all day or only when your office is closed. Full-time 24 7 coverage means every incoming call is handled by the service, which suits solo attorneys who are often in court, in meetings, or simply cannot stop to pick up. After-hours coverage means you answer your own phone during business hours and the service handles evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Both approaches use the same setup. The difference is when you forward calls. With conditional forwarding, unanswered or busy calls go to the service; with all-call forwarding, every call goes there. Your phone carrier's instructions determine which options you have, and they differ by provider and product.
During setup, you choose a business or enter its website, check the details the service found, and hear a personalized sample before anything goes live. The sample lets you hear how your firm's receptionist sounds before a real caller does. Note that the sample does not create a real booking.
New consultations can be booked into the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, an optional Google Calendar connection is available in Settings after you connect and authorize your Google account. Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests rather than confirmed changes, so you stay in control of your docket.
When a caller asks about a fee, a case outcome, or anything you have not saved an answer for, the service takes a message. It does not guess, and it does not give legal advice.
You do not need a new number. You keep your public number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and the exact instructions depend on your phone service. For example, Verizon mobile lines use *72 plus the destination for all-call forwarding and *71 for unanswered calls, while T-Mobile uses codes like **21*1 followed by the destination and #. Business products such as Spectrum Business Voice and Comcast Voice Mobility manage forwarding through their online portals instead of star codes.
Because carriers and products differ, check which service your firm actually has before entering any code. Some forwarding features are not available on every plan or device, and Google Voice numbers cannot be forwarded to an automated system. If your carrier's guide is unclear, their support team can confirm which forwarding options your line supports.

Some calls should reach you directly, such as an existing client with an urgent matter. AllDayDesk can transfer calls, but you must first configure a transfer destination and the rules for when transfers happen. A transfer is not guaranteed to be picked up or answered immediately, so treat transfers as one part of your coverage plan rather than a promise of instant contact.
For everything else, the service takes ordinary messages. You review them in the dashboard with the call transcript and summary, then decide who to call back and when.
Answering services come in two broad types: human-staffed services and AI receptionists. Human services employ people to answer calls; several, such as Ruby and Smith.ai's receptionist service, advertise plans on their websites, and their pricing and included hours vary, so compare current quotes directly. AI receptionists like AllDayDesk answer calls with software trained on your business information, which changes the cost structure and how quickly setup happens.
When comparing options for your firm, look past the headline price. Check what is included each month, what extra minutes or calls cost, whether appointment booking is supported, how you receive messages, and whether you can keep your existing number. Also consider scope: an in-house receptionist does far more than answer phones, including greeting visitors and handling office tasks, so a phone service is not a full replacement for front-desk staff.

Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website, checking the details it found, and hearing a personalized sample. Then you choose your phone setup and forward your firm's number using your carrier's instructions. From that point, calls are answered around the clock and everything lands in your dashboard.
Before going live, save your firm's key details: hours, practice areas, location, and what a caller should do in different situations. The more accurate your saved information, the more calls the service can handle on its own, and the fewer messages you need to return.

No. You keep your existing public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The forwarding steps depend on your phone carrier and product, so identify your exact service before entering any codes.

Yes, once you configure a transfer destination and rules for when transfers happen. Transfers are not guaranteed to be picked up or answered immediately, so review transferred calls in your dashboard as well.
Around-the-clock availability describes when the service is ready to answer, not a guarantee that every call connects. Forwarding must be active on your line, and carrier support varies.
AllDayDesk supports an optional Google Calendar connection in Settings. It does not connect to case management, CRM, or other industry software.
Enter your law firm's details, review them, and listen to a personalized sample of how your calls would be answered around the clock. No real bookings are made from the sample, so you can try it with no commitment.
