AI phone answering for your business

Law Firm Phone Answering Service

A law firm phone answering service answers your firm's phone when you are with a client, in court, or out of the office. AllDayDesk is an automated receptionist that answers calls around the clock using the business information you save, takes detailed messages, and books consultations on your calendar. You keep your existing firm phone number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and setup starts by entering your firm's website so the service can learn your practice areas, hours, and intake details. You hear a personalized sample before anything goes live, and every call, transcript, summary, and booking shows up in your dashboard. When a caller asks something you have not covered, the service takes a message instead of guessing at legal questions or fees.

Add your business

Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.

02

Hear your receptionist

Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.

What an answering service does for a law firm

Many small firms are run by the lawyers themselves, so the phone competes with client work, hearings, and paperwork. An answering service handles the calls you cannot pick up. AllDayDesk answers using your saved firm details, so callers hear your firm's name, your practice areas, and your instructions for new and existing clients.

The service is built for ordinary intake and scheduling, not legal work. It can explain what you tell it to explain, collect the caller's name, contact information, and reason for calling, and book a consultation. It does not give legal advice, quote fees you have not listed, or confirm changes to existing appointments on its own. Those requests are passed to you as messages so you decide what happens next.

  • Answers calls around the clock using your saved firm information
  • Takes clear messages with caller details and the reason for calling
  • Books new consultations on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar once you set your services and availability
  • Shows every call, transcript, summary, and booking in your dashboard
  • Takes a message whenever an answer, price, or appointment time is unknown

You keep your firm's phone number

You do not need a new number or new printed materials. You forward your existing firm number to AllDayDesk, and callers dial the number they already know. The exact forwarding steps depend on your phone carrier or phone system, so check what service your firm uses before you start.

Some carriers use star codes for forwarding. For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination number for all-call forwarding and *73 to turn it off, and Optimum Business Phone uses *72 with a confirmation step and *73 to disable. Other systems, like Spectrum Business Voice or Vonage Business Communications, manage forwarding through an online portal or app instead. If your firm uses Google Voice, note that Google does not support forwarding a Google Voice number to an automated system, so you would forward the underlying carrier line instead.

  • Forwarding is set up with your phone carrier, not inside AllDayDesk
  • Star codes apply only to specific carriers and products, so verify your exact service first
  • Forwarding instructions differ between a carrier's wireless, landline, and hosted products

How setup works

Setup starts by choosing your law firm as the business type or entering your firm's website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, such as your practice areas, location, and hours, and you confirm or correct them. You then hear a personalized sample of how your receptionist will sound before choosing your phone setup.

After that, you forward your firm's number using your carrier's instructions, and calls start reaching the service. The sample call creates no real booking, so you can listen without affecting your schedule.

  • Enter your firm's website or choose your business type
  • Review and correct the details the service pulls in
  • Hear a personalized sample before going live
  • Choose your phone setup and forward your existing number

Consultation booking and your calendar

New consultations are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default. Before that works well, you configure the services you offer and the times you are available, so the receptionist only offers slots you can actually keep.

If your firm already runs on Google Calendar, you can optionally connect it in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account. That connection is optional and set up by you; nothing syncs until you authorize it.

Changes to existing appointments work differently from new bookings. A caller who wants to move or cancel an appointment generates a request for you in the dashboard. You confirm the change yourself, so nothing on your calendar shifts without your approval.

  • New consultations book on the AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default
  • Set your services and availability first so offered times match your schedule
  • Google Calendar is an optional connection you authorize in Settings
  • Reschedule and cancel requests come to you for approval
  • See how automated consultation booking works once your services and availability are configured. AI appointment booking

Transfers and messages

Sometimes a caller needs a person right away, such as an existing client with an urgent matter. AllDayDesk can transfer calls, but you set that up first by configuring a transfer destination and the rules for when transfers happen. Because transfers depend on your phone setup and the destination answering, neither the pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed.

When a caller's question has no answer in your saved information, such as an unlisted fee or a matter the service cannot resolve, it takes a message instead. You see the message, the transcript, and a summary in your dashboard and decide how to respond.

  • Transfers require you to configure a destination and rules in advance
  • Pickup and immediate response on transfers are not guaranteed
  • Unknown answers, prices, or appointment times become messages for you

Choosing between service options for your firm

Law firms generally weigh three routes: hiring in-house, using a human answering service, or using an automated service like AllDayDesk. An in-house receptionist can greet visitors and handle office tasks beyond the phone, but the role costs a salary and covers only the hours someone is at the desk. Human answering services staff calls with people, and their pricing varies by provider and plan, so compare current quotes rather than assuming any single price.

AllDayDesk is this site's own product, and this comparison is based on documented features, not hands-on testing of other providers. It answers around the clock, books consultations, and shows transcripts and summaries in a dashboard, at a monthly plan price with included minutes. The right choice depends on your call volume, whether callers need human judgment on the first contact, and your budget.

  • In-house reception covers more than phones but adds salary and limited hours
  • Human services vary in price, hours, and included allowances by provider
  • AllDayDesk offers automated around-the-clock coverage with dashboard visibility
  • Compare documented features and current quotes before deciding

More questions, answered

Will callers know they reached an answering service instead of my office?

The receptionist answers using your firm's name and the details you save, so callers hear a greeting built around your practice. You can hear a personalized sample during setup to check how it sounds before calls are forwarded.

Can it answer legal questions or quote my fees?

No. It shares only the information you have saved about your firm. When a caller asks something you have not covered, such as a fee or a legal question, it takes a message so you can respond.

What happens to changes to existing appointments?

Reschedule and cancellation requests are passed to you as requests in the dashboard. You confirm them yourself; the service does not confirm changes to existing appointments on its own.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. You keep your existing firm number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The forwarding steps depend on your carrier or phone system, so identify your exact service before starting.

Does it work with Google Calendar?

Yes, as an optional connection. After you connect and authorize your Google account in Settings, bookings can use your Google Calendar. By default, new consultations use the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar.

Can I see what the receptionist said on each call?

Yes. Calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings all appear in your dashboard, so you can review any conversation.

Hear your firm's receptionist before you decide

Enter your firm's website, review the details, and listen to a personalized sample built from your own practice information. If it sounds right, forward your existing number and let AllDayDesk cover the calls you cannot pick up.
