AI phone answering for your business
An overflow answering service handles the calls your business can't get to, while you keep answering your main calls yourself. You set up conditional call forwarding on your phone line, so a call only reaches the service when your line is busy or you don't answer. When you're free, calls come to you exactly as they do now. With AllDayDesk, the overflow calls are answered by an AI receptionist that uses your saved business information, takes messages, and can book appointments. You can review every call, transcript, and summary in your dashboard.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Overflow answering is a backup plan for your phone. Instead of forwarding every call away from you, you forward only the calls that would otherwise go to voicemail or ring unanswered. Your customers who reach you directly still talk to you, which keeps the personal touch on your main line.
The switch happens through a phone feature called conditional call forwarding. Your phone company sends calls to a second number only under certain conditions: when your line is busy, or when nobody answers after a set number of rings. AllDayDesk answers those overflow calls using the business details you save during setup, takes a message when it can't answer something, and shows you the call, transcript, and summary in your dashboard.
Overflow coverage fits owners who answer their own phone most of the time but lose calls in predictable situations: while on a job, mid-appointment, or during a rush of calls. A one-person shop on the tools all day, a salon owner with a client in the chair, or an accountant during a busy meeting all fit this pattern.
If you want calls handled at night and on weekends too, all-call forwarding gives you broader coverage, but you give up answering any calls yourself. The tradeoff is simple: overflow keeps you in control of the customer experience on your main line, while full forwarding trades that control for wider coverage. You can also change the forwarding mode later if your needs shift.
Setup has two parts: getting AllDayDesk ready, and pointing your overflow calls at it. On the AllDayDesk side, you choose your business or enter its website, check the details it pulled together, listen to a personalized sample of how your calls will sound, and choose your phone setup. The sample is a demonstration only and creates no real booking.
On the phone side, the steps depend on your carrier, and the exact codes depend on which service you have. Conditional forwarding (busy or no-answer) is a different feature from unconditional forwarding (all calls), so make sure you're using the right instructions for your product. When a call reaches AllDayDesk, the receptionist greets the caller, answers questions it can from your saved business details, and takes a message when it can't. If a caller asks something you haven't saved, like a price you didn't list, the receptionist takes a message instead of guessing. Appointment requests are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk calendar once you've configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your account; other calendar connections aren't part of the product.
If a caller wants to reach you directly, the receptionist can transfer the call, but only after you've set up a transfer destination and rules. A transfer isn't guaranteed to connect, so treat transfers as one option among messages and bookings, not a promise.
Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests. The receptionist doesn't confirm reschedules or cancellations on its own; you decide and update the calendar.
Voicemail catches the same missed calls, but it gives callers a one-way recording and leaves the work to them. An overflow service talks back: it answers common questions, captures the details of what the caller needs, and can book an appointment during the call. You get a written summary in your dashboard instead of a list of callbacks to return blind.
The cost picture is also different to think about. Voicemail is usually free with your phone plan, while an answering service charges for the minutes it handles. With overflow forwarding, you only pay for the calls that actually reach the service, which keeps the bill tied to the calls you would otherwise have missed. If you're weighing costs across options, the answering service cost guide walks through per-minute and monthly models with worked examples.

Yes. Conditional forwarding only sends calls away when your line is busy or you don't answer. Calls you pick up normally never leave your phone.
Carrier steps vary by product, and not every service supports conditional forwarding. Check your carrier's own documentation for your exact service, or contact their support. If busy/no-answer forwarding isn't available, all-call forwarding is the alternative, though it sends every call to the service.
No. Google states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported, so Google Voice isn't a compatible forwarding source.
Every call, transcript, and summary appears in your AllDayDesk dashboard, so you can review exactly what was said and what messages were taken.
No. The personalized sample you hear during setup is a demonstration only. It creates no real booking and contacts no one.
It passes the change request to you instead of confirming it. You approve the change and update the calendar yourself.
Enter your business details, check them, and listen to a personalized sample of the receptionist answering for your business. If it sounds right, set up busy and no-answer forwarding and keep answering your main calls yourself.
