AI phone answering for your business

Roofer Answering Service

A roofer answering service takes your roofing company's calls when you are on a roof, in a truck, or off the clock. AllDayDesk answers calls around the clock using your saved business information, takes messages, answers common questions, and books new appointments into your calendar. You keep your existing phone number by forwarding your calls, and every call, transcript, summary, and booking shows up in your dashboard. Setup involves choosing your business or entering its website, checking the details, hearing a personalized sample, and choosing how to forward your phone.

Why roofing companies use an answering service

Roofing work keeps you away from the phone. You may be up on a ladder, running a crew, or driving between jobs, and a call you cannot reach is a job that may go to another roofer. Storm season makes this worse, because a single hail event can bring in more calls in a day than a slow month produces.

An answering service gives callers a real conversation instead of voicemail. AllDayDesk answers using your business details, so callers can ask about your services, request an appointment, or leave a message. You review everything in your dashboard afterward and decide who to call back first.

  • Calls answered around the clock, including evenings and weekends
  • Messages with transcripts and summaries in your dashboard
  • New appointments booked once you have configured your services and availability
  • Your existing phone number stays the same for customers

What AllDayDesk handles on a roofing call

When a homeowner calls about a leak, missing shingles, or a free estimate, AllDayDesk draws on the business information you saved. It can describe your services, answer questions it has information for, and book new appointments into your calendar.

When it does not know an answer, a price, or an available time, it takes a message instead of guessing. That message, along with a transcript and summary of the call, appears in your dashboard so you can follow up with accurate information.

If you want a caller to reach you directly, you can configure call transfers with a destination number and rules. Transfers are not guaranteed to connect or to get an immediate response, so treat them as one tool among several rather than a promise.

  • Answers questions using your saved business information
  • Books new appointments into the built-in dashboard calendar by default
  • Takes a message when an answer, price, or opening is unknown
  • Can transfer calls to a destination you configure, with rules you set
  • To see how appointment requests turn into calendar entries, read the AI appointment booking page. AI appointment booking

Where booked jobs land

New appointments go to the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you already run your roofing schedule in Google Calendar, you can optionally connect it in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account.

Changes to existing appointments are different from new bookings. When a caller asks to move or cancel an existing job, the service records that as a request for you to review and act on. It does not confirm the change on its own, which protects a schedule you may have built around crew availability and weather.

  • Default: built-in dashboard calendar after you set services and availability
  • Optional: connect Google Calendar in Settings and authorize your account
  • Existing appointment changes arrive as requests, not confirmed changes

How to set it up for your roofing company

Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, and you confirm or correct them so callers hear accurate information about your services and service area.

Next, you hear a personalized sample of how your receptionist will sound. This sample creates no real booking, so you can listen freely. Then you choose phone setup: you keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The exact forwarding steps depend on your phone service, so check your provider's instructions before you start.

For example, Verizon mobile users activate all-call forwarding by dialing *72 plus the 10-digit destination and disable it with *73, and setup must be done from the phone itself while in Verizon coverage. Other providers use different codes or a web portal, so identify your exact service first.

  • Choose your business or enter its website
  • Check and correct the business details
  • Hear a personalized sample (no real booking is created)
  • Choose phone setup and forward your existing number
  • Follow your own provider's forwarding instructions

Storm season and after-hours calls

After a storm, homeowners call at all hours, and many call several roofers in a row. If your phone goes to voicemail, the caller often just moves to the next number on the list. Around-the-clock availability means a caller reaching out at 9 p.m. gets a conversation and can leave details or request an appointment, even though you are not available to take the call yourself.

AllDayDesk does not guarantee that every call connects, and it does not perform emergency dispatch or damage triage. What it does is capture the caller's information, answer what it can from your saved details, and put the message and transcript in your dashboard so your morning starts with a list of leads instead of a full voicemail box.

  • Availability around the clock, including storm-season evenings
  • Caller details captured in messages you review in the dashboard
  • No emergency dispatch or damage assessment performed

Comparing your options

Roofing companies generally choose between voicemail, an AI answering service like AllDayDesk, and a human virtual receptionist service. Human services such as Ruby (plans advertised from $245 per month as of October 2026) and Smith.ai offer people answering calls, with pricing that depends on the plan and included allowance. AllDayDesk uses your saved business information to answer automatically, and its pricing is displayed separately on this page.

This comparison is based on documented features from each provider's own materials, not hands-on testing. When deciding, compare what each option does with a call it cannot fully handle, how appointments get into your calendar, what happens after hours, and the total monthly cost including overage charges.

  • Voicemail: lowest cost, but callers get no conversation
  • AI service like AllDayDesk: automatic answers from your saved info, dashboard transcripts, calendar booking
  • Human receptionist services: people answer, with plan-based pricing (Ruby advertised from $245/month, October 2026; Smith.ai uses per-call pricing)

More questions, answered

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. You keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The forwarding steps depend on your phone provider, so use your provider's own instructions.

Can it book estimates into my Google Calendar?

New appointments use the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured services and availability. Google Calendar is an optional connection you set up in Settings by connecting and authorizing your account.

What happens when a caller asks something the service does not know?

It takes a message rather than guessing. The message, transcript, and summary appear in your dashboard so you can follow up yourself.

Can callers reach me directly in an urgent situation?

You can configure call transfers with a destination number and rules. A transfer is not guaranteed to connect or to get an immediate response, so review your dashboard messages as your reliable record of who called.

Will I hear what the service sounds like before turning it on?

Yes. During setup you hear a personalized sample based on your business details. The sample creates no real booking.

Can it move an existing appointment for a customer?

Changes to existing appointments are recorded as requests for you, not confirmed changes. You review the request and make the change yourself.

Hear your roofing company's receptionist before you commit

Enter your roofing business, check the details, and listen to a personalized sample of how AllDayDesk would answer your calls around the clock. The sample creates no real booking, so you can try it with no changes to your schedule.
