Xfinity Business Call Forwarding

Xfinity Business call forwarding sends calls that come in on your Comcast Business phone line to another number, such as your cell phone or an answering service. How you turn it on depends on which Comcast Business phone product you have. Comcast offers services like Business Voice, Voice Mobility, VoiceEdge, and Managed Voice, and the setup steps are not the same for all of them. Comcast says features depend on the services you subscribe to, and you can manage phone features through My Account or the Comcast Business App. For some Comcast Managed Voice phone systems, the documented steps are to lift the handset, dial *72 plus the destination number, and hang up to forward all calls, with *73 to turn it off. If you are not sure which product you have, check your bill or your Comcast Business account before using any code. Once forwarding is on, callers who dial your usual business number reach the destination you chose, so you can keep your public number while an answering service handles the calls.

First, identify which Comcast Business phone product you have

Comcast Business sells more than one phone service, and the forwarding steps differ between them. Before you dial any code or change a setting, figure out which service is on your account. The easiest ways to check are your monthly bill, your Comcast Business welcome paperwork, or the services listed when you sign in to My Account.

Comcast notes that features depend on the services you subscribe to, and that My Account and the Comcast Business App are where phone features are managed. If your account lists Voice Mobility, that product includes call forwarding and remote call forwarding. If you have a Managed Voice phone system, handset star codes apply. If you are unsure, contact Comcast Business support and ask them to confirm your exact product name before you change anything.

  • Check your bill or account dashboard for the product name (for example, Business Voice, Voice Mobility, VoiceEdge, or Managed Voice).
  • Features and setup steps depend on the subscribed service, so the product name matters.
  • My Account and the Comcast Business App manage phone features for supported services.
  • If the product name is unclear, ask Comcast Business support to confirm it before activating forwarding.

Ways to activate forwarding on Comcast Business phones

There are two general routes: handset codes and account-based controls. Which one works for you depends on your product.

For Comcast Managed Voice systems using a Panasonic TPA65 phone, the published guide says to lift the handset, dial *72 followed by the destination number, and replace the handset to forward all calls. Dialing *73 from the same phone turns forwarding off. The same guide lists *92 plus a destination for no-answer forwarding (*93 to disable) and *90 plus a destination for busy forwarding when call waiting is not enabled (*91 to disable). These codes are specific to Managed Voice and should not be assumed to work on every Comcast Business product.

For services like Voice Mobility, forwarding is a feature you manage through My Account or the Comcast Business App rather than a handset code. Comcast does not publish one universal star code for all of its business phone products, so if a code does not work on your line, that is expected, not a malfunction. Use the account portal or app for your product, or call Comcast Business support for the correct method.

  • Managed Voice (Panasonic TPA65): lift handset, dial *72 plus destination, hang up to forward all calls; *73 disables.
  • Managed Voice no-answer: *92 plus destination to enable, *93 to disable.
  • Managed Voice busy (when call waiting is off): *90 plus destination to enable, *91 to disable.
  • Voice Mobility and similar services: manage forwarding through My Account or the Comcast Business App.
  • There is no single universal code across all Comcast Business phone products, so confirm your product first.

Forwarding your Xfinity Business line to an answering service

Many owners forward their main business number to an answering service so calls are handled when they are on a job, with a customer, or simply unavailable. With AllDayDesk, you keep your existing Xfinity Business number. You forward calls from your Comcast line to the number AllDayDesk gives you, and the service answers using the business information you saved.

Setup is straightforward: you choose your business or enter its website, check the details the service pulled together, hear a personalized sample of how your calls would be answered, and then choose your phone setup. The sample call does not create a real booking. After that, forwarding instructions depend on your phone service, which is why identifying your Comcast product first matters.

Once calls are forwarded, calls, transcripts, summaries, and any bookings show up in your dashboard. New appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk calendar once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account. When the service does not know an answer, a price, or an appointment slot, it takes a message instead of guessing.

One important limit: forwarding sends calls to another number, but it does not change how your line behaves when you are busy or do not answer unless your product supports those separate forwarding conditions. Decide whether you want all calls forwarded, or only unanswered ones, and confirm your Comcast product supports that choice.

  • You keep your public Xfinity Business number; forwarding sends its calls to the answering service.
  • Setup: choose your business or website, verify details, hear a sample, then choose phone setup.
  • Calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings appear in your dashboard.
  • Appointments use the built-in calendar by default; Google Calendar is an optional connection in Settings after you authorize it.
  • Unknown answers, prices, or times become messages for you rather than guesses.

Testing and turning forwarding off

After you activate forwarding, verify it from an outside phone by calling your main business number and confirming the call reaches the destination you set. This matters whether the destination is your cell phone or an answering service, because a wrong digit in the destination number sends your callers somewhere you did not intend.

To stop forwarding, use the reverse of whatever you used to start it. On Managed Voice phones, that is *73 from the same handset. If you set forwarding through My Account or the Comcast Business App, turn it off in the same place. If you forward to an answering service and later want calls ringing at your own line again, remember that callers dial your public number either way, so nothing about your marketing or signage needs to change.

Also keep in mind that transfers from an answering service back to you require you to configure a transfer destination and rules, and a quick pickup is not guaranteed. Message taking and call transfers are separate features: the service takes messages when it does not have the answer a caller needs, and it transfers calls to you only under the destination and rules you have configured. Plan both settings with your own availability in mind.

  • Test from an outside phone, not the forwarded line itself.
  • Disable with *73 on Managed Voice handsets, or in My Account / the app for portal-managed products.
  • Transfers to you need a configured destination and rules; pickup is not guaranteed.
  • Your public number stays the same, so turning forwarding off returns calls to your normal line.

More questions, answered

Does *72 work on every Xfinity Business phone line?

No. *72 is documented for Comcast Managed Voice phones, not for every Comcast Business product. Other services, such as Voice Mobility, manage forwarding through My Account or the Comcast Business App. Identify your exact product before dialing any code.

Will callers still dial my regular business number?

Yes. Forwarding keeps your public number the same. Calls placed to it are redirected to the destination you set, so customers see no change in how they reach you.

Can I forward only missed calls instead of all calls?

That depends on your Comcast product. The Managed Voice guide lists separate no-answer and busy forwarding codes, but not every product supports every condition. Confirm with Comcast Business support which forwarding types your service includes.

Can I forward my Google Voice number to AllDayDesk?

No. Google states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported. Forwarding to AllDayDesk works from your carrier phone line, such as your Xfinity Business line.

What happens to appointments the service books?

New appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar once you have set up your services and availability. You can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your Google account. Changes to existing appointments come to you as requests, not confirmed changes.
