AI phone answering for your business
An answering service for IT companies covers your business phone while technicians are on tickets, on-site, or off the clock. AllDayDesk answers calls around the clock using your saved business details, takes messages, transfers callers you configure it to, and books new appointments. You keep your existing number by forwarding calls, and calls, transcripts, and bookings appear in your dashboard.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
IT work is full of moments when answering the phone is not realistic. A technician is mid-troubleshoot on a client's server, someone is on-site running cabling, or the whole team is deep in an after-hours maintenance window. Most owners answer their own phone at an IT company, so when nobody can pick up, callers reach voicemail.
An answering service fills that gap. Instead of a generic voicemail box, callers reach a receptionist that greets them, asks what they need, and records the details you would want: who is calling, how to reach them, what the problem involves, and whether they want an appointment. It can also answer routine questions like your hours, service area, or what services you offer, using only the business details you have saved.
This page explains how that works specifically for IT support and managed service companies, what the receptionist can and cannot do, and how to set it up without changing your phone number.
AllDayDesk is built around inbound answering, not technical support. The receptionist answers the call, uses your saved business details to respond, and routes the call to the right outcome. Here is how the common IT-company call types are handled:
Being clear about limits helps you decide which calls to route where. AllDayDesk is an AI receptionist, not a human one and not a help desk. It does not connect to your ticketing system, CRM, remote monitoring tools, or any industry software. It does not perform technical triage, and it will not attempt to fix anything over the phone.
It also does not handle payment details, and it does not promise response times. If a caller needs something the receptionist cannot resolve, the right outcome is a message you review in the dashboard. Transfers only work when you have set up a destination and rules, and neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed on a transferred call.
Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website so AllDayDesk can pull in your details. You then check those details, because the receptionist answers questions using exactly what is saved there. Next, you hear a personalized sample of how your receptionist would sound. The sample is for preview only and creates no real booking.
After that, you choose your phone setup. You keep your public number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and the instructions depend on your phone service. Some carriers use star codes dialed from the phone, while others use an account portal. For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination for all-call forwarding and *73 to turn it off, while Spectrum Business Voice manages forwarding through its online portal's Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager. Identify your exact service before following any carrier's steps, because codes and portals differ between products from the same provider.
Once calls are flowing, appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, after you have configured your services and availability. If you use Google Calendar, you can optionally connect and authorize your Google account in Settings. Other calendar connections are not supported.

You do not have to forward everything. Two common approaches for IT companies are all-call forwarding, which sends every call to AllDayDesk, and conditional forwarding, which only sends calls when your line is busy or unanswered. All-call forwarding gives the receptionist every call; conditional forwarding keeps your team answering first and uses AllDayDesk as backup.
A practical way to decide is to look at when your calls actually go unanswered. If most missed calls happen during work hours while technicians are busy, conditional forwarding may cover the gap. If callers reach voicemail evenings and weekends, all-call forwarding outside those times is the simpler option. Whichever you choose, the receptionist takes a message whenever it cannot answer a question or complete a booking, so callers are not left with nothing.
Reviewing results is part of the loop: calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings all appear in your dashboard, so you can see what was captured and follow up the same way you would with a note from a colleague.
AI answering services are usually priced by the month with a set allowance of included minutes, while human answering services may use monthly plans or per-call pricing. AllDayDesk plans include a monthly allowance of minutes, with a per-minute rate for time beyond the allowance, and pricing is displayed separately from this page.
When comparing options, look past the headline price. Check what the included allowance covers, what overage minutes cost, whether the service can book appointments or only take messages, and how you review calls afterward. A cheaper per-minute rate matters less if the service cannot capture the details your team needs to follow up.
