AI phone answering for your business
24 hour call handling means your business phone is answered day and night, on weekends and on holidays, so callers reach a helpful voice instead of voicemail at any hour. With AllDayDesk, you keep your existing phone number and forward your calls to our AI receptionist, which answers using your saved business details. It can share information like hours and service areas, take messages, and book new appointments on your dashboard calendar once you have set up your services and availability. Setup involves choosing your business or entering its website, checking the details it found, hearing a personalized sample, and then following the forwarding instructions for your phone service. You can see calls, transcripts, summaries and bookings in your dashboard at any time.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Full-time call handling treats every hour the same way: morning calls, late-night calls, Saturday calls and holiday calls all get a consistent greeting and a consistent set of options. That is different from an after-hours-only plan, which only covers the evenings and weekends while you handle your own daytime calls.
During a handled call, the receptionist answers in your business name, responds to questions it can answer from your saved business information, and takes a message when it does not know an answer, a price, or whether an appointment slot is open. It does not guess. Messages, transcripts, summaries and any bookings all show up in your dashboard so you can follow up on your own schedule.
AllDayDesk is an AI receptionist, not a call center with rotating staff. It learns your business from information you save, so it speaks accurately about your hours, services and service area. Around-the-clock availability describes when the service is ready to answer; it is not a promise that every single call connects, since phone networks and forwarding can fail on their own.
When a caller wants an appointment, the receptionist books it on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account. Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests for you to approve, not confirmed changes.
If a caller needs you directly, the receptionist can transfer the call, but only after you have configured a transfer destination and rules for when transfers happen. A transfer is not guaranteed to be picked up or answered immediately, so the receptionist also takes ordinary messages when it cannot help fully.
You do not need a new phone number. You keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The exact forwarding steps depend on your phone service, so setup starts by choosing phone setup and following the instructions matched to your provider.
Some providers use star codes. For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination for all-call forwarding and *73 to turn it off, and T-Mobile uses **21*1 followed by the destination and # for unconditional forwarding. Other providers, like Spectrum Business Voice or Vonage Business Communications, manage forwarding through an online portal or app instead. Check which product you actually have before entering any code, because instructions differ even within the same company.
One important limit: Google does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible forwarding source. If you are unsure about your provider, our forwarding guides walk through the verified steps for major carriers.

Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, and you confirm they are accurate before anything goes live. Next, you hear a personalized sample of how your receptionist will sound. This sample is a preview only; it does not create a real booking. Then you choose your phone setup option and follow the forwarding instructions for your service.
There is no fixed setup time to promise, because forwarding steps vary by provider. Once calls are flowing, check your dashboard to review calls, transcripts, summaries and bookings, and adjust your services and availability so new appointments land on the right slots.
Full-time call handling makes the most sense when callers reach out outside your working hours and expect a response. Service businesses like plumbers, HVAC contractors and towing companies often get calls at night. Offices like law firms, dental practices and salons may lose callers who reach voicemail at lunch, in the evening or on weekends.
If you already answer your own phone during the day and rarely miss calls, an after-hours-only plan may fit better and cost less. If you want a human voice for every call, human virtual receptionist services exist, but their pricing and coverage differ by provider; for example, Ruby advertises plans starting at $245 per month as of October 2026, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing for its human receptionists. Compare included minutes, overage rates and hours on a current quote rather than relying on starting prices alone.
AllDayDesk is this site's own product, and the comparison here covers documented features, not hands-on testing. Its plans include a set number of minutes per month with per-minute overage rates, so check the pricing page for current numbers.

No. You keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The forwarding steps depend on your phone service, and setup includes instructions matched to your provider.
Yes. New appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. You can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your account.
It takes a message instead of guessing. Unknown answers, prices and appointment availability all become messages you can review in your dashboard with the call transcript and summary.
Transfers are possible after you configure a transfer destination and rules for when transfers occur. Neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed, so the receptionist also takes messages as a normal part of handling calls.
No. Google states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported, so a Google Voice line cannot be used as your forwarding source.
Yes. During setup you hear a personalized sample based on your business details. The sample is a preview only and does not create a real booking.
Enter your business or its website, check the details, and listen to a personalized sample of how AllDayDesk would handle your calls around the clock. Setup starts with that preview, and you keep your existing phone number.
