AI phone answering for your business
A 24 hour telephone answering service handles your business calls around the clock: day, night, weekends and holidays, as one continuous service. You keep your existing phone number and forward calls to the service, which answers with your business information, takes messages, and can book appointments once your services and availability are set up. AllDayDesk is an AI receptionist that works this way, and you can hear a personalized sample call before turning anything on.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
A 24 hour telephone answering service is one service that covers every hour, not a mix of daytime coverage plus a separate after-hours plan. When a call comes in at 2 p.m. or 2 a.m., the service answers using your saved business details: your company name, services, pricing you choose to share, and hours.
With AllDayDesk, the receptionist can answer questions from your business information, take a message when it does not know an answer, a price, or an opening, and book new appointments on the built-in dashboard calendar once you have configured your services and availability. Calls, transcripts, summaries and bookings are visible in your dashboard, so you can review activity in one place.
Two limits are worth knowing up front. Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests, not confirmed changes, so you stay in control of your schedule. And around-the-clock availability is not a promise that every single call connects; it describes when the service is available to answer.
Full-time answering services generally come in two forms. Human-staffed services employ receptionists who work in shifts to cover nights and weekends. AI services like AllDayDesk use software trained on your business information. Both approaches answer around the clock; they differ in how calls are handled and how pricing usually works.
Human services typically charge more because they employ people. For example, Ruby advertises live virtual receptionist plans starting at $245 per month, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing for its human receptionist service. Those are starting prices only; real costs depend on included minutes or calls, overage rates, hours covered, and contract terms, so always check a current quote. AI services usually price by the minute with a monthly plan.
An in-house receptionist is a different comparison again. The Bureau of Labor Statistics describes receptionist work as including greeting visitors and office tasks, not just phones, so a phone service replaces part of the job rather than the whole role. AllDayDesk is this site's own product, and this comparison is based on documented features and published prices, not hands-on testing of any service.

Setup starts by choosing your type of business or entering its website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, then you hear a personalized sample call so you can hear exactly how your receptionist would sound. The sample is a demonstration only; it creates no real booking. Once you are happy with it, you choose your phone setup.
You keep your public phone number. You forward calls to AllDayDesk, and the instructions depend on your phone service. Most owners answer their own phone during working hours and let the service cover the rest, though you can also forward all calls if you prefer.
After setup, configure your services and availability so the receptionist can book new appointments on the built-in dashboard calendar. If you use Google Calendar, you can optionally connect and authorize your account in Settings; that connection is optional and is set up by you, not automatic.
Forwarding is done with your phone provider, not inside AllDayDesk. The exact steps depend on which service you have, and the same carrier can use different steps for different products, so identify your exact service first. Here are verified examples from provider documentation:
Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the 10-digit destination to forward all calls and *73 to turn it off, done from the phone while in Verizon coverage. Verizon business landlines also use *72 and *73 for all-call forwarding. T-Mobile uses **21*1 followed by the destination and # for unconditional forwarding, with ##21# to disable. AT&T Phone for Business uses *72, destination, # for all calls, with separate codes for no-answer and busy forwarding. Spectrum Business Voice manages forwarding through the SpectrumBusiness.net portal under Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager, where you choose all calls or busy/no-answer. Comcast Business features depend on whether you have Voice Mobility, Business Voice, or VoiceEdge, so check which product you have before using any instructions.
Two cautions. First, unconditional (all calls) forwarding is different from conditional forwarding (busy or no-answer only); do not assume a carrier supports both without checking. Second, Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path to AllDayDesk.

Before picking any 24 hour service, work through a short checklist. The right choice depends on your call volume, the kinds of calls you get, and how much control you want over scheduling.
Start with coverage and pricing. Ask what hours are actually covered, what is included in the base price, and what extra minutes or calls cost. A low starting price with high overage rates can cost more than a bigger plan. AllDayDesk plans include a set number of minutes per month with a per-minute rate beyond that; product pricing is displayed separately from this page.
Then look at what happens to each call. Can the service book appointments, and on which calendar? Does it take messages when it does not know an answer? Can it transfer urgent calls to you, and what rules do you set for that? With AllDayDesk, transfers require you to configure a destination and rules, and neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed, so a message is always the safe baseline. Finally, check the dashboard: you should be able to see calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings without calling the provider.

Each plan includes call minutes. Extra minutes cost more. See your estimate before you start. Your first 30 calls are free, with no credit card. Paid plans are monthly; cancel anytime.
No. You keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. The forwarding steps depend on your phone provider, and setup includes choosing your phone configuration.
Yes, new appointments can be booked at any hour on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar, once you have configured your services and availability. Changes to existing appointments come to you as requests rather than confirmed changes.
An optional Google Calendar connection is supported. You connect and authorize your Google account in Settings; it is not connected automatically, and no other external calendar connections are offered.
When an answer, a price, or an appointment is unknown, the receptionist takes a message instead of guessing. You see the message in your dashboard.
Transfers are possible, but you must configure a destination and the rules for when transfers happen. Neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed, so messages remain the reliable record.
No. A 24 hour telephone answering service covers day, night, weekends and holidays as one continuous service. An after-hours service only covers the hours outside your normal business day.
Enter your business name or website, review your details, and listen to a personalized sample call built from your own information. If it sounds right for your business, choose your phone setup and put full-time answering to work.
