AI phone answering for your business
An after hours call answering company answers your business phone during the hours you are closed — evenings, weekends, and holidays — so callers reach a helpful voice instead of a voicemail box. With AllDayDesk, you keep your existing number and forward calls to the service. The receptionist answers using the business details you save, takes messages, and can book new appointments once your services and availability are set up. This page focuses on closing-time-to-opening-time coverage, a different need than full 24-hour service.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
When your doors close, your phone does not stop ringing. Customers call in the evening to book appointments, ask about prices, or check whether you are open tomorrow. An after hours call answering company picks up those calls on your behalf so the caller talks to someone instead of leaving a message they hope you will hear.
AllDayDesk answers around the clock using the information you save about your business — your services, hours, and common questions. After each call, you can open your dashboard to see the call details, a transcript, a summary, and any appointment that was booked. Most owners answer their own phones during the day, so this service is built to cover the hours you cannot get to the phone yourself.
After hours coverage and 24-hour coverage sound similar, but they answer different questions. After hours service covers the gap between your closing time and your opening time. You handle your own calls during the day. A 24-hour service covers every call, all day and night, which suits owners who are often on jobs, driving, or unable to stop and pick up.
The practical difference shows up in how you use the service and what you pay attention to. With after hours coverage, your daytime calls stay with you, and the service handles the evening and weekend volume. With full coverage, every call — including midday ones — can be handled for you. AllDayDesk answers around the clock either way; the difference is which calls you choose to forward to it.
If you only need help when the day gets busy — for example, when you are already on a call or on a ladder — an overflow arrangement may fit better than scheduled after hours forwarding.
You keep your public number. To route after hours calls to AllDayDesk, you turn on call forwarding on your phone service and point it at the number AllDayDesk gives you. The exact steps depend on your carrier, and many providers separate unconditional forwarding (all calls) from conditional forwarding (only when busy or unanswered).
Some carriers let you schedule forwarding or forward only missed calls. For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination for all-call forwarding and *71 for unanswered calls, with *73 to turn it off. T-Mobile uses codes like **21*1 for unconditional and **61*1 for no-reply forwarding. Comcast Business, Spectrum Business, Vonage, and Frontier manage forwarding through their portals or their own codes, and the steps differ by product. Check your carrier's own instructions before entering anything — codes for one service often do not work on another.
One important limit: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so that setup path is not available. If your phone runs through Google Voice, you will need a different number to forward.

A caller dials your normal number after you close. The call forwards to AllDayDesk, which answers using your saved business details. If the caller wants an appointment, the receptionist can book one on the built-in dashboard calendar, as long as you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your account, and new appointments will use that instead.
When a caller asks something the saved business information does not cover — a price you have not listed, a question about a specific job — the receptionist takes a message instead of guessing. Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests; they are not confirmed changes until you handle them.
If a call needs to reach you directly, the receptionist can transfer it, but only after you have configured a transfer destination and rules. A transfer is not guaranteed to connect, so think about which situations truly need a live handoff overnight.
Before comparing companies, write down what you actually need. How many after hours calls do you expect in a week? Do you want appointments booked, or only messages taken? Do you need a human voice, or is a well-informed automated receptionist acceptable? Your answers shape which option is worth the money.
Human answering services staff phones with people. Published starting prices for human services tend to be higher — Ruby advertises plans starting at $245 per month, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing for its human receptionists — but starting prices alone do not tell the whole story. You have to compare included minutes or calls, overage charges, hours covered, and contract terms on a current quote. AllDayDesk uses an AI receptionist, with plans based on included minutes, so the fair comparison is what each option does with your typical after hours call.
Ask every company the same short list of questions and compare the answers side by side.

Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk pulls together your business details, and you check them for accuracy. You then hear a personalized sample of how your receptionist will sound — the sample is a preview only and does not create a real booking. After that, you choose your phone setup and forward your number using your carrier's instructions.
Once you are set up, spend a few minutes configuring your services and availability so the calendar can book correctly, and decide whether you want the optional Google Calendar connection in Settings. From then on, your dashboard is the record of everything that happened while you were closed.

No. You keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk using your phone carrier's forwarding feature. Callers dial the same number they always have.
Yes. Once you have configured your services and availability, new appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default. You can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your account.
The receptionist takes a message instead of guessing. You see the message, along with the call, transcript, and summary, in your dashboard.
Google does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so that forwarding path is not available. You would need to forward a different phone line.
AllDayDesk is available around the clock, but availability is not a guarantee that every call connects. Transfers to you also require a configured destination and rules, and neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed.
AllDayDesk plans are based on included minutes with a per-minute rate for extra use, and pricing is displayed separately on the pricing page. Human answering services publish different starting prices, so compare included minutes, overages, and covered hours on current quotes.
Enter your business, check the details it pulls together, and listen to a personalized sample of how your after hours calls would be answered. No real booking is made — it is simply a preview of the voice your callers would hear after you close.
