AI phone answering for your business
An answering service for construction answers your business phone when you are on a job site, running equipment, or off the clock. With AllDayDesk, calls are answered around the clock using the business information you save, so callers hear your company name, your services, and your pricing when they ask. The service captures caller details, takes messages, and passes along appointment requests. You keep your existing phone number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, and the forwarding steps depend on your phone carrier. Everything the service does — calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings — shows up in your dashboard, so you can review messages between tasks instead of stopping work to pick up the phone.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Construction work is hands-on. When you are up a ladder, under a vehicle of materials, or operating a saw, answering a ringing phone is not realistic. Most owners answer their own phone rather than employing a receptionist, which means calls that come in during work hours often go unheard until the end of the day.
An answering service covers those moments. It answers in your business name, answers common questions from the information you save, and collects the caller's name, number, and reason for calling. When someone wants to schedule an estimate or site visit, the service records the request so you can confirm it later. When the answer, a price, or an appointment time is unknown, the service takes a message instead of guessing.
Around-the-clock availability means the service is available nights and weekends, not that every single call is guaranteed to connect. Still, having calls handled outside your working hours means fewer callbacks stacked up on Monday morning.
Setup starts by choosing your type of business or entering your website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, then you hear a personalized sample of how your calls would be answered. The sample is a demonstration only — it does not create a real booking. Once you like how it sounds, you choose your phone setup option.
You keep your public phone number. Calls reach AllDayDesk through call forwarding, and the exact steps depend on your phone service. After setup, callers who reach the service are greeted with your business information, and anything they need from you lands in your dashboard as a message, transcript, or summary.
New appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer Google Calendar, an optional connection is available in Settings after you connect and authorize your Google account. Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests — the service does not confirm changes on its own.
Forwarding is the bridge between your existing number and the answering service. The activation method depends on your carrier and product, so identify the exact service on your bill before following any instructions.
Common examples from published carrier guides: Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the 10-digit destination for all-call forwarding and *73 to disable, with *71 for unanswered calls. T-Mobile uses **21*1 followed by the destination and # for unconditional forwarding, with ##21# to disable. Comcast Business manages forwarding through My Account or the Comcast Business App under Voice Mobility features. Spectrum Business Voice uses the SpectrumBusiness.net portal: open Voice, choose your number, then Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager. Vonage Business Communications offers Call Forwarding in its settings, where you enable forwarding to a phone number. AT&T Phone for Business uses *72, destination, # for all calls and *92 for no-answer forwarding.
One important limit: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible forwarding source.

A caller reaching the service can ask about your services and pricing, which are answered from the business information you saved. If someone wants to book an estimate or site visit, the request is recorded and, once your services and availability are configured, a new appointment can be placed on your dashboard calendar.
Questions the service cannot answer — a custom quote, a change to an existing appointment, a question about an active project — become messages with the caller's details. Transfers to you are possible, but only after you configure a destination number and rules for when transfers happen, and a pickup or immediate response is not guaranteed.
Everything lands in your dashboard: the call record, a transcript, a summary, and any bookings. You review and respond when you are off the ladder, not in the middle of a pour.
Answering services come in two broad shapes. Human answering services, such as AnswerConnect's 24/7 live answering or Ruby's virtual receptionists, staff calls with people; Ruby advertises plans starting at $245 per month as of October 2026, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing, so real costs depend on the current quote and what each plan includes. An AI-based service like AllDayDesk answers calls automatically using your saved business information, with plans and pricing displayed separately on this site.
When comparing options, look past the headline price. Check what the included allowance covers, what overage costs apply, whether coverage matches the hours you actually need, and how messages and bookings reach you. Also compare scope: an in-house receptionist per the Bureau of Labor Statistics handles greeting visitors and office tasks beyond phone answering, so a phone service is not a full employee replacement.
This comparison is based on documented features and published prices, not hands-on testing of each provider.
