AI phone answering for your business
A law firm call answering service answers your firm's incoming calls when you are with a client, in court, or away from the desk. AllDayDesk does this around the clock using the business information you save: your firm's name, practice areas, services, hours, and booking details. Callers reach a consistent voice that answers questions from your saved details, takes messages when it does not know an answer or price, and books new consultations into your calendar. You keep your existing phone number by forwarding calls to AllDayDesk, so clients dial the same number they always have. Every call, transcript, summary, and booking shows up in your dashboard, so nothing depends on a note left on someone's desk. Setup starts by choosing your firm or entering its website, checking the details it pulls in, hearing a personalized sample call, and then choosing how to forward your phone.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
AllDayDesk answers calls using information you save about your firm. When a caller asks about consultations, practice areas, office location, or scheduling, the service responds from those saved details. When a caller asks something the saved information does not cover, such as a fee amount or a legal question, it takes a message for you instead of guessing.
You keep your public phone number. You forward calls from your existing phone service to AllDayDesk, and the forwarding instructions depend on which carrier or phone system your firm uses. Nothing changes for clients who dial your office.
Everything the service handles is visible in your dashboard: calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings. You can review what was said and follow up on your own schedule.
New consultations are booked into the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default. This works once you have configured your services and availability, so the service only offers times you actually want to see clients.
If your firm already runs its schedule in Google Calendar, you can optionally connect it in Settings after you connect and authorize your Google account. The connection is set up by you; it is not automatic.
Changes to existing appointments are different from new bookings. When a caller wants to move or cancel an existing appointment, the service records it as a request for you to review and confirm, not as a confirmed change. That keeps your calendar accurate and under your control.
Messages are ordinary message taking: caller name, contact details, and what they need. The service does not collect sensitive medical, legal, or financial details, and it does not give legal advice. If a caller needs an answer only you can give, the right outcome is a message waiting for you.
Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website, checking the details it pulls in, hearing a personalized sample, and then choosing phone setup. The sample call lets you hear how the service would sound for your firm before anything goes live, and it creates no real booking.
Forwarding instructions depend on your phone service, so check which product you actually have before entering codes. As examples from published carrier guides: Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination for all calls and *71 for unanswered calls, with *73 to disable. T-Mobile uses **21*1 plus the destination and # for unconditional forwarding. Comcast Business forwarding is managed through My Account or the Comcast Business App, and features depend on the services you subscribe to. Spectrum Business Voice forwarding is set in the online portal under Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager.
One important limit: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so firms on Google Voice need a different path for the number they forward.
Transfers to you are also possible, but you configure the destination and the rules for when transfers happen. Neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed, so the service should be set up so callers who need you get a clear path either way.

Most owners answer their own phone, and many small firms have no separate staff member dedicated to the phones. That means calls often land during times you cannot pick up: during hearings, client meetings, or after the office closes. A call answering service fills those gaps without changing your number or your workflow.
Before choosing any service, decide what you want covered. Some firms want help only during the day when they are unavailable; others want calls handled around the clock. AllDayDesk is available around the clock, but availability is not a guarantee that every call connects, so review how any service handles its limits.
Also decide what the service should say. Save clear details about your practice areas, consultation process, and hours so callers get accurate answers, and be explicit about what should become a message instead.
Law firms generally choose between a human answering service, an in-house receptionist, or an automated service like AllDayDesk. Each compares differently on documented features, and this comparison is based on published feature pages rather than hands-on testing.
Human virtual receptionist services, such as Ruby and Smith.ai's live receptionist plans, answer calls with people. Ruby advertises plans starting at $245 per month as of October 2026, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing for its human receptionist service. Starting prices are not complete comparisons; you would need each current quote, including included minutes or calls, overage rates, hours, and contract terms.
An in-house receptionist does more than answer phones. Federal occupational data shows receptionist duties include greeting visitors and office tasks beyond phone work, so a phone service is not a full replacement for that role.
AllDayDesk is this site's own product. It answers around the clock using your saved business information, books new consultations into your calendar, and shows transcripts and summaries in your dashboard. Pricing is displayed separately from this page.

Google does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice number is not a supported forwarding path.
Enter your firm's website, check the details it pulls in, and hear a personalized sample call before you change anything about your phone. If it sounds right for your practice, choose your phone setup and keep the number your clients already know.
