AI phone answering for your business

Roofers Answering Service

A roofers answering service answers your business phone when you are on a roof, on another call, or done for the day. Callers hear a greeting built from your business details, get answers to basic questions like your services and service area, and can request an appointment. AllDayDesk is an around-the-clock answering service for roofing companies: you keep your current phone number by forwarding calls to it, and every call, transcript, summary, and booking shows up in your dashboard. Setup starts by entering your business or website, checking the details it pulls in, hearing a personalized sample, and then choosing how to forward your phone. When a caller asks something AllDayDesk does not know, like a firm price for a complex repair, it takes a message instead of guessing.

What an answering service does for a roofing company

Roofing work keeps you off the phone. You are up a ladder, on a job site, or driving between estimates, and calls come in anyway. An answering service picks up during those moments so a caller talks to something other than a ringing phone or a full voicemail box.

With AllDayDesk, the service answers using information you save about your business: your services, service area, hours, and how you want calls handled. It can answer common questions, collect the caller's name, address, and reason for calling, and book new appointments on your dashboard calendar once you have set up your services and availability. If a caller wants to change an existing appointment, that is passed to you as a request, not a confirmed change, so you stay in control of your schedule.

Everything the service does is visible in your dashboard: calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings. You can review a message over coffee instead of returning to a pile of missed calls at dark.

  • Answers using your saved business details, around the clock
  • Collects caller name, address, and reason for the call
  • Books new appointments on the built-in dashboard calendar
  • Passes changes to existing appointments to you as requests
  • Takes a message when it does not know an answer or price
  • Shows calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings in one dashboard

Storm season and heavy call days

After a hail storm or a wind event, roofing phones get loud. Homeowners call about damage, insurance questions come up, and neighbors of past customers all call within a few days of each other. You cannot answer while you are inspecting a roof, and a voicemail box fills fast.

An around-the-clock service means calls that arrive while you are working, or at 9 p.m. when a homeowner finally sits down to research roofers, still get a response. The caller describes their situation, the service collects their details, and you get a summary you can work through in priority order. Note that around-the-clock availability is not a promise that every single call connects; it means the service is available to answer whenever calls come in.

If a caller asks for an exact repair price over the phone, the service takes a message rather than quoting a number it cannot verify. That protects you from committing to a price before anyone has looked at the roof.

  • Handles bursts of calls during storm season without a full voicemail box
  • Captures details while you are on a job site or on another call
  • Avoids quoting prices the service cannot verify
  • Gives you summaries so you can prioritize callbacks

Transferring urgent calls to you

Some calls you want immediately, like a homeowner with an active leak. AllDayDesk can transfer a call to a destination you configure, along with rules for when transfers happen. You set the destination number and the conditions yourself in the dashboard.

Two things to know before relying on transfers. First, a transfer is not guaranteed to connect: if you do not pick up, the service does not promise a specific fallback outcome. Second, transfers only work after you have configured a destination and rules, so set those up before storm season, not during it. For anything less urgent, the ordinary flow is a message with the caller's details waiting in your dashboard.

  • Transfers go to a destination and rules you configure
  • Neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed
  • Set up transfer rules before heavy call periods
  • Routine calls become messages you review in the dashboard

How to set up AllDayDesk for your roofing business

Setup follows the same steps for any trade. You start by choosing your business or entering its website, and AllDayDesk pulls in details like your services and service area. You check those details and correct anything wrong, then hear a personalized sample of how your calls would be answered. The sample is a preview only; it does not create a real booking.

Next you choose your phone setup. Most roofing companies keep their existing public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk, so customers still dial the number on your truck and yard signs. The forwarding steps depend on your phone carrier, and the guides below cover the common ones.

After that, configure your services and availability so new appointment requests can land on the built-in dashboard calendar. If you use Google Calendar, you can optionally connect and authorize your account in Settings; that connection is not automatic and is the only external calendar connection supported.

  • Enter your business or website and check the pulled-in details
  • Hear a personalized sample before going live
  • Keep your public number by forwarding calls
  • Configure services and availability for dashboard calendar booking
  • Optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your account

Forwarding your roofing business number

Forwarding instructions depend entirely on who provides your phone service, so identify your exact carrier and product before entering any codes. As verified examples: Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the 10-digit destination for all calls, *71 for unanswered calls, and *73 to turn forwarding off, done from the phone itself while in coverage. T-Mobile uses **21*1 followed by the destination and # for unconditional forwarding, with ##21# to disable. Comcast Business Voice, Spectrum Business Voice, and Vonage Business Communications manage forwarding through their account portals rather than star codes.

One important exception: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path to AllDayDesk. If your carrier is not listed in our guides, check your provider's own support pages or ask them whether forwarding to an external number is supported on your plan.

  • Identify your exact carrier and product before using any code
  • Verizon mobile: *72 destination for all calls, *71 for unanswered, *73 to disable
  • T-Mobile: **21*1 destination # for unconditional, ##21# to disable
  • Comcast, Spectrum, and Vonage Business use portal settings, not star codes
  • Google Voice numbers cannot forward to an automated system

Comparing your options

You have three broad ways to handle roofing calls: answer everything yourself, hire in-house help, or use an answering service. Answering yourself costs nothing but loses calls you cannot reach. An in-house receptionist covers phone work plus office tasks, but that is a bigger commitment than most solo roofers need, and human answering services price differently from automated ones. Human virtual receptionist services we checked list starting prices around $245 per month or use per-call pricing, though you should verify current quotes, included allowances, and hours directly.

AllDayDesk, this site's product, is an automated around-the-clock service priced by plan with included minutes. It compares to those options on documented features, not hands-on testing: it answers with your business details, books on a dashboard calendar, and takes messages when it does not know an answer. The right choice depends on your call volume, how often you are unreachable, and whether you want human judgment or consistent automated coverage.

  • Doing it yourself is free but misses calls during work
  • In-house reception covers more than phones but costs more to employ
  • Human services we checked start around $245/month or price per call; verify current quotes
  • AllDayDesk is automated, around the clock, and priced by plan with included minutes

More questions, answered

Do I have to change my business phone number?

No. You keep your public number and forward calls to AllDayDesk. Customers keep dialing the number on your truck and signs.

Can it book roof inspections and estimates?

Yes, once you have configured your services and availability, new appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar. You can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your account.

What happens when a caller asks for a price?

When an answer or price is not in your saved business information, the service takes a message instead of guessing, so you can quote it yourself.

Can callers reschedule an existing appointment through the service?

Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests. The service does not confirm them on its own.

Will every call get answered during a storm?

The service is available around the clock, but availability is not a guarantee that every call connects. Transfers also depend on your configured destination and rules.

Does it work with my job scheduling or CRM software?

AllDayDesk does not connect to dispatch, CRM, or industry scheduling software. The supported calendar options are the built-in dashboard calendar and an optional Google Calendar connection in Settings.
