AI phone answering for your business
A telephone answering service 24 hours a day handles your business calls around the clock — days, nights, weekends and holidays. AllDayDesk answers in your business name using details you save, takes messages, and books appointments you review in a dashboard. You keep your existing number by forwarding calls to the service. Around-the-clock availability describes when the service is ready to answer, not a guarantee that every call connects.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
The phrase "24 hours" can mean different things at different companies. For some providers it means a human team works in shifts around the clock. For others, like AllDayDesk, it means an AI receptionist is available to answer at any hour using the business details you save. Either way, the point is the same: one service covers the full day rather than just evenings.
A full-time service typically handles the same situations at 2 p.m. and 2 a.m.: answering in your business name, taking messages, sharing information you have approved, and booking appointments when you have set up your services and availability. When a caller asks something the service does not know — like a price you have not listed or a question about a specific appointment — it takes a message instead of guessing.
It helps to be clear about what a 24-hour service is not. It is not an emergency dispatch, and it does not give medical, legal or financial advice. It answers, informs, books and takes messages. Anything beyond that becomes a message for you to handle.
You do not change your phone number. You keep your public number and forward calls to the answering service. The exact steps depend on your phone provider, so check which service you have before following any instructions — the same carrier often has different products with different steps.
Some examples from published provider guides: Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination for all-call forwarding and *73 to turn it off (verizon-wireless). T-Mobile uses **21*1 followed by the destination and # for unconditional forwarding (tmobile). For Spectrum Business Voice, forwarding is managed by signing in to SpectrumBusiness.net, choosing the phone number, and using Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager (spectrum-business). AT&T Phone for Business uses *72, destination, # for all calls and *92 for no-answer forwarding (att-business). Optimum Business Phone uses *72 and confirms with two beeps and dial tone (optimum).
Two important limits: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path (google-voice-routing). And conditional forwarding — forwarding only when busy or unanswered — is not verified for every carrier, so confirm with your provider which forwarding types your line supports before relying on them.

Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk then builds its knowledge from the information it finds, and you check those details to make sure they are accurate — this is what the service will tell callers about you.
Next, you hear a personalized sample of how your calls would be answered. This sample is a preview only; it does not create a real booking or affect your calendar. If the wording or details are not right, fix them before going live.
Finally, you choose your phone setup. That means following your provider's forwarding instructions so calls reach AllDayDesk. Once calls flow, you can see every call, transcript, summary and booking in your dashboard. New appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account.
Sometimes a caller needs a person — for example, an existing customer with an urgent situation. AllDayDesk can transfer calls to you, but only after you have configured a transfer destination and the rules for when transfers happen. A transfer is not guaranteed to be picked up or answered immediately, so think about where calls should go and when before enabling them.
When the service cannot answer a question — an unknown price, a question about an existing appointment, or anything outside your saved information — it takes a message instead of guessing. You see the message, transcript and summary in your dashboard and follow up yourself.
Note that changes to existing appointments work as requests for you to approve, not confirmed changes. This keeps you in control of your schedule while still letting callers ask for adjustments at any hour.
Pricing for 24-hour answering varies a lot by provider type. Human services that staff around the clock generally cost more because people work in shifts; published starting prices for some human virtual receptionist services begin around $245 per month, though you should always verify current quotes, included allowances and contract terms directly (ruby). Other providers use per-call pricing that depends on the needs you select (smith).
AllDayDesk plans are based on included minutes with a per-minute rate for overage, and pricing is displayed separately on this site rather than written into this page. When comparing options, look past the headline number: check what is included, what extra minutes or calls cost, whether nights and weekends count the same as business hours, and whether you can change or cancel your plan.
Also compare scope. An in-house receptionist does far more than answer the phone — greeting visitors and handling office tasks — so a phone service is not a full replacement for that role (bls).

A good test is simple: do callers try to reach you outside the hours you can personally answer? If your phone rings at night, on weekends, or during jobs you cannot interrupt, a full-time service captures those calls instead of letting them go to voicemail. If nearly all your callers reach you during the day, an after-hours-only or overflow arrangement may be enough.
Consider what you want the service to do. If you mainly need messages taken accurately, most services handle that. If you want new appointments booked automatically, check that the service supports booking and that you are willing to configure your services and availability — with AllDayDesk, bookings use the built-in dashboard calendar, with optional Google Calendar connection in Settings.
Finally, think about your phone setup. If you use Google Voice as your main business line, forwarding to an automated system is not supported (google-voice-routing). If you are on a carrier whose conditional forwarding is not verified, plan to use all-call forwarding or confirm support with your provider first.

No. You keep your public number and forward calls to the answering service using your phone provider's forwarding feature. Callers dial the same number they always have.
The service is available around the clock, but availability is not a guarantee that every call connects. Forwarding has to be set up correctly with your provider, and transfers depend on the destination you configure.
Yes, once you have configured your services and availability. New appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default. You can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account.
It takes a message. Unknown answers, prices or appointment details are collected as messages you can review in the dashboard, along with the call transcript and summary.
Google states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible forwarding path. You would need a line from a provider whose forwarding supports this.
Calls can be transferred to you, but only after you configure a transfer destination and rules. Neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed on a transfer.
Enter your business details and listen to a personalized sample of how AllDayDesk would answer your calls, day or night. The sample is just a preview — no real booking is made — but it shows you exactly what your callers would hear before you turn on forwarding.
