Call Forwarding Spectrum Business: How to Set It Up

Spectrum Business Voice customers manage call forwarding through the online account portal, not through a published star code. Sign in to SpectrumBusiness.net with an account owner or administrator role, open Voice from the Overview page, select your phone number, and use Voice Settings or the Forwarding Manager in the left navigation. There you can enable forwarding, choose whether all calls or only busy and no-answer calls forward, and set the destination number. Turning forwarding off uses the same controls. These steps apply to Spectrum Business Voice, not Spectrum Mobile. If your account does not show these options, contact Spectrum Business support, because available features depend on the services you subscribe to.

Check which Spectrum service you have first

Spectrum sells several phone products, and forwarding instructions are not the same across all of them. The steps in this guide come from the Spectrum Business Voice user guide, so they fit Spectrum Business Voice service. They do not apply to Spectrum Mobile, which is a wireless product with its own settings.

The fastest way to check is your bill or your Spectrum Business account page. If it lists Business Voice, the portal steps below are the right place to start. If you are not sure which product you have, ask Spectrum Business support to confirm the exact service name before you change anything.

  • This guide covers Spectrum Business Voice, confirmed in Spectrum's own user guide.
  • It does not cover Spectrum Mobile or other Spectrum products.
  • Features depend on the services your business subscribes to.
  • Account owners and administrators control who can manage voice settings.

Turn on forwarding in the Spectrum Business portal

Spectrum's Business Voice user guide describes forwarding as a portal feature. Here is the sequence it documents.

First, sign in to SpectrumBusiness.net using a login with a role that is allowed to manage voice features. If your login cannot see voice settings, the account owner or an administrator has to either adjust your role or make the change.

From the Overview page, open Voice. Choose the phone number you want to forward, then open Voice Settings. You can also reach the same controls through Forwarding Manager in the left navigation.

In the forwarding controls, enable forwarding and pick the type: unconditional (all calls) or conditional (busy and no-answer calls). Enter the destination number where calls should go, and save. To stop forwarding later, return to the same screen and disable it.

  • Sign in at SpectrumBusiness.net with an owner or admin role.
  • Open Voice from Overview, then select your phone number.
  • Use Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager in the left navigation.
  • Choose all calls, or busy and no-answer only, and set the destination.
  • Disable forwarding in the same controls when you want calls back on your line.

Does Spectrum Business have star codes?

Spectrum's Business Voice user guide does not publish star codes for forwarding; it documents the portal method shown above. Some other carriers publish dial codes like *72, but those codes are specific to each carrier and product, so do not try another company's code on your Spectrum line. It may not work, or it may activate a different feature.

If you want dial-code forwarding on Spectrum Business Voice, ask Spectrum Business support directly whether your exact service supports it and what the correct code is. Until they confirm it for your account, the portal is the verified way to manage forwarding.

  • No Spectrum Business Voice star codes appear in Spectrum's published user guide.
  • Other carriers' codes are not verified for Spectrum lines.
  • Ask Spectrum support to confirm any code for your exact service before using it.

Test the forward and know how to undo it

After you enable forwarding, place a test call to your business number from a different phone, such as a personal cell. Listen for where the call actually rings. If you set conditional forwarding, remember the test only shows a difference when your line is busy or does not answer.

Keep in mind that all-call forwarding sends every incoming call to the destination, so your Spectrum line itself will not ring while it is on. When you want calls back, return to Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager and disable forwarding, then test again to confirm calls ring at your original line.

  • Test from a second phone, not the forwarded line itself.
  • Conditional forwarding only activates on busy or no-answer.
  • All-call forwarding stops the original line from ringing until you disable it.

Forwarding your Spectrum line to an answering service

Many owners forward their Spectrum Business number to a phone answering service so calls are covered while they are on a job, with a client, or after hours. The destination you enter in Forwarding Manager can be the service's number.

With AllDayDesk, this site's own AI receptionist, you keep your Spectrum number and forward calls to it. Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website, checking the business details it pulled in, and hearing a personalized sample call. The sample does not create a real booking. Once you configure your services and availability, new appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk calendar by default, and you can optionally connect Google Calendar in Settings after authorizing your account. Calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings show up in your dashboard.

Set expectations honestly: the receptionist answers questions from your saved business details, takes messages when it does not know an answer or price, and can transfer calls to a destination you configure with your own rules. Transfers are not guaranteed to be picked up, and changes to existing appointments come to you as requests, not confirmed edits.

  • Forwarding to a service uses the same Forwarding Manager destination field.
  • AllDayDesk answers using your saved business information, around the clock.
  • Unknown answers, prices, or appointment times become messages for you.
  • Existing appointment changes are requests for the owner to approve.

More questions, answered

Can I forward my Spectrum Business number to a cell phone?

Yes. The destination you enter in Forwarding Manager can be any number you choose, including a mobile phone. Test it from another phone to confirm calls ring where you expect.

Does forwarding work when my internet is down?

Spectrum Business Voice runs over Spectrum's network, and the user guide does not describe behavior during an outage. If calls during outages are a concern, ask Spectrum Business support how your service handles that situation.

Why do I not see Forwarding Manager in my account?

Access depends on your account role, and features depend on the services you subscribe to. Ask your account owner or administrator to check your role, or contact Spectrum Business support to confirm your service includes forwarding controls.

Does forwarding my calls cost extra?

Spectrum's user guide does not list forwarding pricing. Check your plan details or ask Spectrum Business support whether forwarded calls incur charges on your service.

Can I forward a Google Voice number to AllDayDesk instead?

No. Google states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported. Use a standard carrier line such as Spectrum Business Voice as your forwarding source.
