AI phone answering for your business
An answering service for construction companies answers your business phone when you are on a job site, on a ladder, or driving between projects. AllDayDesk answers calls around the clock using your saved business information. It captures the caller's name, number, and reason for calling, takes messages you can read later, and passes along appointment requests. You keep your existing business number by forwarding calls to the service, and the exact forwarding steps depend on your phone provider. Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website, checking the details it picked up, hearing a personalized sample, and choosing your phone setup option.

How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
Construction work happens with your hands, not at a desk. When you are pouring concrete, running a saw, or up on scaffolding, the phone usually stays in the truck. A caller who reaches voicemail may simply call the next contractor on their list.
An answering service covers those moments. AllDayDesk answers calls around the clock using the business information you save, so callers reach a helpful voice instead of a ringing phone. It gathers the caller's details and reason for calling, takes a message, and passes along appointment requests. When a caller asks something the service does not know, like a price for a custom job, it takes a message so you can answer yourself.
Everything shows up in your dashboard: the calls, transcripts, summaries, and any bookings. You can review them at the end of the day and decide who to call back first.
Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk checks the details it finds, such as your services and hours, and you confirm or correct them. Then you hear a personalized sample so you know exactly how your calls will sound. The sample is a demonstration only and creates no real booking. Finally, you choose your phone setup option.
You keep your public business number. Calls are forwarded to AllDayDesk, and the forwarding instructions depend on your phone service, so the setup flow gives you steps matched to your provider.
By default, new appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, you can connect Google Calendar in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account. Changes to existing appointments are passed to you as requests, not confirmed changes, so you stay in control of your schedule.
You do not need a new phone number. You forward calls from your existing line to AllDayDesk, and how you do that depends on who provides your phone service. Some providers use star codes you dial from the phone itself, while others use an online portal or app.
For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the destination number for all-call forwarding and *73 to turn it off, while T-Mobile uses codes like **21*1 followed by the destination for unconditional forwarding. Comcast Business manages forwarding through My Account or the Comcast Business App, and the exact steps depend on which Comcast voice product you have. Spectrum Business Voice uses forwarding controls in the SpectrumBusiness.net portal rather than star codes.
If you use Google Voice, note that Google explicitly does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so that setup will not work with this kind of service. If your provider is not listed during setup, check your provider's support pages or ask their support team for the forwarding steps for your exact plan.

Construction businesses get a mix of call types, and the service handles each one differently based on the information you save.
For routine questions covered by your saved business details, such as your service area or hours, it can answer directly. For questions it cannot answer accurately, like a quote for a custom deck or a price for a specific repair, it takes a message so you can respond with the right answer. For people who want to schedule an estimate or site visit, it collects their details and passes along the appointment request.
You can also configure call transfers to another number, such as your cell phone, along with the rules for when transfers happen. A transfer requires you to set up the destination and rules first, and pickup or an immediate response is not guaranteed. That is why messages are captured during the call as well.
There are a few ways to handle calls when you cannot pick up, and the right choice depends on your budget and how you work.
A human answering service, such as AnswerConnect or Ruby, staffs calls with people. Ruby advertises plans starting at $245 per month as of October 2026, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing for its human receptionist service. Human services vary in hours, included minutes, and contract terms, so compare current quotes directly. An in-house receptionist handles phones plus office tasks, but that is a much larger commitment than phone coverage alone.
AllDayDesk is an AI-based service, which is this site's own product. It answers around the clock using your saved business information, and pricing is displayed separately on this page. If you want a deeper comparison of AI versus human receptionists, that guide walks through the tradeoffs.
