How it works
Choose your business or enter its website. Check the services, hours, and details callers need.
Listen to a sample for your business and check its answers. The sample does not create a real booking.
Follow the steps for your phone service. Set up booking availability and any call transfers you want to use.
Review calls, messages, and bookings in your dashboard.
The phrase covers one simple idea: your business phone gets answered no matter when it rings. Most owners answer their own phone during the day, so the practical value shows up at night, on weekends, during holidays, and whenever you are on a ladder, under a sink, or with a customer. Instead of callers reaching voicemail, they reach a service that answers in your business name.
With AllDayDesk, the service answers using the business information you save — your hours, services, and pricing details. It can answer questions, take a message, and book new appointments. When a caller asks something the service does not know, such as a price you have not saved or a question about an unusual request, it takes a message instead of guessing. Everything — calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings — shows up in your dashboard so you can review what happened and call people back.
One important limit to understand up front: around-the-clock availability describes when the service is ready to answer, not a promise that every call connects. Phone networks, forwarding, and transfers all involve your carrier, and no service can guarantee pickup on every call.
Some answering services split coverage into tiers: business-hours plans, after-hours plans, and holiday plans, each priced separately. A call 24 approach treats coverage as continuous — the same service handles a 2 p.m. call you missed and a 2 a.m. call, under one setup.
For a solo owner, this matters because you are usually the only person who can answer. There is no front desk to fall back on. Continuous coverage means the same service, the same saved business information, and the same dashboard handle every call, so you do not maintain separate rules for different times of day.
Note what this does not include: AllDayDesk does not provide configurable coverage schedules where you turn the service on and off by time of day, and it does not dispatch emergency crews or perform medical, legal, or financial triage. It answers, informs, takes messages, and books.
You keep your public number. Calls reach the answering service because your phone forwards them. The activation steps depend entirely on your carrier and product, so identify your exact service before following any instructions — codes differ between a carrier's wireless, landline, and hosted products.
Verified examples: Verizon mobile activates all-call forwarding with *72 plus the 10-digit destination and disables it with *73, done from the phone itself while in coverage. T-Mobile uses **21*1 followed by the destination and # for unconditional forwarding, with ##21# to disable. AT&T Phone for Business uses *72, destination, # for all calls, and *92 for no-answer forwarding. Spectrum Business Voice manages forwarding through the SpectrumBusiness.net portal under Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager, choosing all calls or busy/no-answer. Optimum Business Phone uses *72 then the destination, with *73 to turn it off.
One known gap: Google Voice does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path to AllDayDesk. If your carrier is not listed here, check its support pages for your exact product, or ask whether your phone system supports forwarding to an outside number at all.
Conditional forwarding (forward only when you do not answer) is not verified for every carrier. If your provider does not document it, the alternative is all-call forwarding during the hours you want covered, then turning it off when you are available again.

Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website. AllDayDesk checks the details it learned — your hours, services, and other public information — and you confirm or correct them. Then you hear a personalized sample call so you know exactly how the service will sound answering for your business before anything goes live.
Next you choose phone setup: how to forward your existing number, using the carrier instructions above. Your public number never changes; callers dial it as always and the forwarding routes calls to the service.
New appointments are booked on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default, once you have configured your services and availability. If you prefer, an optional Google Calendar connection is available in Settings after you connect and authorize your Google account — it is not automatic, and no other external calendar or industry scheduling software is supported. Changes to existing appointments are requests sent to you for approval, not confirmed changes the service makes on its own.
Transfers to you are possible when you configure a transfer destination and rules, but neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed — the service handles the call in its normal way, such as taking a message.
Around-the-clock answering comes in two main forms. Human services such as AnswerConnect provide 24/7 answering by people; Ruby advertises live virtual receptionist plans starting at $245 per month as of October 2026, and Smith.ai uses per-call pricing for its human receptionist service. Starting prices are not complete comparisons — you need each provider's included allowance, overage rates, hours, and contract terms from a current quote.
AllDayDesk is an AI-based service, which is this site's own product. It answers using your saved business information, books on a dashboard calendar (with optional authorized Google Calendar), and shows transcripts and summaries in your dashboard. The honest trade-off: a human service may handle unusual or nuanced conversations differently, while an AI service answers consistently from your saved details and takes a message whenever it does not know an answer. Neither approach guarantees every call connects, and human coverage and fees vary by service and plan — it is not true that human services only work business hours or always cost more.
A third option is doing nothing and letting calls go to voicemail. That costs nothing monthly, but callers who reach a recording may not leave messages or may call a competitor. Compare options on what actually happens to a caller at 9 p.m., not just on price.

A few boundaries keep expectations accurate. Around-the-clock availability is not a guarantee that every call connects — carrier forwarding and network conditions are outside any service's control. Transfers to you require you to configure a destination and rules first, and neither pickup nor immediate response is guaranteed on a transfer.
The service does not connect to dispatch software, CRMs, health records systems, industry scheduling tools, or calendars other than the optional Google Calendar connection. It does not provide emergency dispatch, medical or legal advice, insurance verification, or symptom triage — when a question falls outside your saved business information, it takes a message. It also does not collect sensitive medical, legal, financial, or payment details from callers.
Finally, most owners answer their own phone; the service is a backstop for the calls you cannot take, not a replacement for you as the face of the business.

No. You keep your existing public number and forward calls to the service using your carrier's forwarding steps. Callers dial the same number they always have.
Around-the-clock availability means the service is ready to answer at any hour, but it is not a guarantee that every call connects. Forwarding and phone networks involve your carrier, and no service can promise universal pickup.
New appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk dashboard calendar by default once you have configured services and availability. Google Calendar is an optional connection you set up in Settings after connecting and authorizing your Google account; it is not connected automatically, and no other external calendar is supported.
It takes a message instead of guessing. You see the call, transcript, and summary in your dashboard and can follow up yourself.
Yes, if you configure a transfer destination and rules. Neither pickup nor an immediate response is guaranteed, so the service handles calls in its normal way when a transfer does not go through.
No. Google explicitly does not support forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system, so a Google Voice line is not a compatible path.
Enter your business or its website, check the details, and listen to a personalized sample call before you connect anything. Setup starts with the sample — no real bookings, no changes to your phone until you choose how to forward calls.
