How to Call Forward Office Phone to Cell Phone
To call forward an office phone to a cell phone, you usually dial a short star code from the desk phone, then the 10-digit cell number. On many landline and business phone services, *72 followed by the destination number turns forwarding on, and *73 turns it off. Some providers use different codes or a web portal instead, and some services separate forwarding all calls from forwarding only busy or unanswered calls. The exact steps depend on which company and product your office phone uses, so identify your service first, then follow its matching instructions below. After activating, place a test call to your office number from another phone to confirm calls ring your cell.

Step 1: Identify your exact phone service
Before dialing anything, find out which company and product handles your office line. Check your monthly bill, your provider's welcome email, or the label on your phone equipment. The product name matters: for example, AT&T Phone for Business, AT&T Collaborate, and AT&T wireless each use different codes, and Comcast Business has more than one phone product with different steps.
If you cannot tell which product you have, call your provider's business support line and ask them to confirm your service name and whether call forwarding is included on your plan. Some providers charge extra for forwarding features or per-minute charges may apply depending on your plan.
- Check the bill or invoice for the exact product name
- Look at the phone model and any system brand (for example, a Panasonic handset on Comcast Managed Voice)
- Ask your provider whether forwarding is included and whether extra charges apply
- Confirm whether you can forward all calls, or only busy and unanswered calls

Step 2: Use the star code for your provider
Most traditional landline and many business phone services use star codes dialed from the office phone itself. Here are the verified instructions for common providers. Always dial from the line you want to forward.
- Verizon business landline: dial *72 and follow the activation instructions; dial *73 from the same line to deactivate (verizon-business)
- Optimum Business Phone (guide-covered service): dial *72, wait for dial tone, then dial the destination; a person answering confirms it. If busy or unanswered, press flash, dial *72 again and redial; two beeps and dial tone confirm. Dial *73 to turn it off (optimum)
- AT&T Phone for Business: all calls, dial *72, destination, then #; turn off with *73#. No answer, dial *92, destination, #; off with *93#. Busy, dial *90, destination, #; off with *91# (att-business)
- AT&T Collaborate: *72 plus destination enables always forwarding, *73 disables; *62 plus destination enables busy forwarding, *63 disables; *92 plus destination enables no-answer forwarding, *93 disables. An administrator controls feature access (att-collaborate)
- Comcast Managed Voice (Panasonic TPA65 guide): lift the handset, dial *72 and the destination, then hang up to enable; *73 disables. *92 plus destination sets no-answer forwarding (*93 off), and *90 plus destination sets busy forwarding when call waiting is not enabled (*91 off) (comcast-managed)
- Frontier Unlimited Digital Voice: lift the handset, dial *72, wait for a second dial tone, enter the destination, and listen for confirmation. Dial *73 to disable. Note that all-call forwarding overrides voicemail forwarding, so your desk phone will not take messages while it is on (frontier-digital)
- C Spire: dial *72 and the 10-digit destination, then press Call; disable with *73 then Call. C Spire has not published verified conditional (busy or no-answer) codes, so confirm those with C Spire directly rather than borrowing another carrier's codes (cspire)

Step 3: Use a web portal or app if your service has one
Hosted and cloud business phone systems usually manage forwarding through a website or app instead of star codes. This is often easier because you can change the destination without being at the desk phone, and some portals let you choose between forwarding all calls or only busy and unanswered calls.
Spectrum Business Voice: sign in to SpectrumBusiness.net with a role allowed to manage voice, open Voice from Overview, choose your phone number, then Voice Settings or Forwarding Manager. Enable forwarding, choose all calls or busy/no-answer, and set the destination. Disable it in the same place.
Vonage Business Communications: select Call Forwarding and enable Forward Calls to a phone number. Vonage recommends verifying the destination with an outside call, and screens can differ between devices. Comcast Business Voice Mobility includes call forwarding and remote call forwarding, managed through My Account or the Comcast Business App, with features depending on your subscriptions. Windstream OfficeSuite UC manages forwarding through the WE Connect Dashboard: use the My Call Forwarding widget, choose Call Forwarding (Immediate), select Another Phone, enter the 10-digit number, and save. For unanswered calls, select your extension, choose the number of rings (1 to 20), then Another Phone Number. To turn forwarding off, choose None and save.
- Spectrum Business Voice: portal-based, supports all calls or busy/no-answer (spectrum-business)
- Vonage Business Communications: enable Forward Calls to a phone number in settings (vonage)
- Comcast Business Voice Mobility: forwarding and remote forwarding via My Account or the app (comcast)
- Windstream OfficeSuite UC: immediate and no-answer forwarding through the WE Connect Dashboard (windstream-officesuite)

Forwarding from a cell phone instead
If the number you want to forward is a mobile line rather than a desk phone, the codes come from your wireless carrier and are dialed from the cell phone itself. For example, Verizon mobile uses *72 plus the 10-digit destination for all-call forwarding, *71 plus the destination for unanswered calls, and *73 to disable. Setup must be done from the phone while in Verizon coverage, and it forwards calls only, not texts.
T-Mobile uses a different format: **21*1 followed by the 10-digit destination and # enables unconditional forwarding, and ##21# disables it. Similar codes cover no reply (**61), unreachable (**62), and busy (**67), with ##004# resetting forwarding to defaults. Check that your service and device support these codes.
Some prepaid and regional carriers have limits. Tracfone notes forwarding is available only in select areas and handsets, and C Spire offers a No Answer Transfer feature that existing customers must add by signing in. When a carrier has not published a conditional-forwarding code, ask them directly instead of using another carrier's code, since wrong codes either fail or change a setting you did not intend.
- Verizon mobile: *72 + destination for all calls, *71 + destination for unanswered, *73 to disable (verizon-wireless)
- T-Mobile: **21*1 + destination # for all calls, ##21# to disable; **61, **62, and **67 cover no reply, unreachable, and busy (tmobile)
- Tracfone: forwarding only in select areas and handsets; *72 + destination then Call, *73 to disable on the documented device (tracfone)

A note on Google Voice numbers
Google Voice can forward calls to linked phone numbers, but Google explicitly states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported. If your business number is a Google Voice number, forwarding it to an automated answering service is not a supported path, and Google Voice settings should not be confused with other Google services. If your office line is a regular carrier line, the carrier steps above are the ones that apply.

Forward all calls or only missed calls?
All-call forwarding (sometimes called unconditional) sends every incoming call straight to your cell, and the desk phone does not ring or take voicemail. This makes sense when the office is closed or unstaffed. Conditional forwarding sends calls to your cell only in specific situations: when the line is busy, when nobody answers after a set number of rings, or when the line is unreachable. This is useful when someone is usually at the desk but you want missed calls to reach you.
One trade-off to know: with all-call forwarding on a service like Frontier Digital Voice, forwarding overrides voicemail forwarding, so your desk voicemail stops collecting messages while forwarding is active. Decide who handles missed calls before you activate, and test both a normal call and a deliberately missed call.
- All-call forwarding: every call rings your cell; desk phone stays silent
- No-answer forwarding: desk rings first, then the cell gets the call
- Busy forwarding: callers reach your cell while the desk line is in use
- All-call forwarding can override desk voicemail on some services

What happens after calls reach your cell
Once forwarding is on, every call to your office number rings your personal cell, including calls that arrive while you are with a customer, driving, or asleep. That is the main limitation of forwarding to a cell: your cell becomes the business line, so you either answer everything or let calls hit your personal voicemail.
This is where an answering service fits in. Instead of forwarding to your cell, you can forward your office number to AllDayDesk, an AI receptionist that answers calls around the clock using your saved business information. Setup starts by choosing your business or entering its website, checking the details it found, and hearing a personalized sample call. You keep your existing public number by forwarding calls to the service, using the same carrier steps above with the service's number as the destination. Calls, transcripts, summaries, and bookings show up in your dashboard, and new appointments go on the built-in AllDayDesk calendar once you have configured services and availability, with an optional Google Calendar connection available in Settings after you connect and authorize your account. When the caller asks something the service does not know, such as a price it has not been given, it takes a message instead of guessing.

More questions, answered
What is the most common star code for forwarding an office phone?
*72 followed by the 10-digit destination is the activation code on several services, including Verizon business landlines, Optimum Business Phone, AT&T Phone for Business, and Comcast Managed Voice, with *73 to turn it off. But codes are not universal. T-Mobile uses **21*1 format, AT&T Collaborate uses different codes, and portal-based systems like Spectrum Business Voice and Vonage use website settings instead. Always confirm your exact product first.
Can I set up forwarding remotely when I am not at the office?
It depends on your service. Portal-based systems are the easiest path: Comcast Business Voice Mobility includes remote call forwarding managed through My Account or the Comcast Business App, and Spectrum Business Voice and Windstream OfficeSuite UC manage forwarding through their web dashboards. Star codes generally must be dialed from the line being forwarded, so check whether your provider offers a portal or app if you need to change forwarding while away.
Will callers still reach my desk voicemail while forwarding is on?
With all-call forwarding, usually not. For example, Frontier Digital Voice documents that all-call forwarding overrides voicemail forwarding, so the desk line stops taking messages while forwarding is active. If you want the desk phone to keep ringing and only catch missed calls, use no-answer or conditional forwarding instead, if your service supports it.
Does forwarding work with texts too?
Generally no. Verizon, for instance, documents that mobile call forwarding applies to calls only, not texts. If your business line receives text messages, those will stay on the original line or device.
My office uses Google Voice. Can I forward it to an automated service?
No. Google states that forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported. Google Voice can forward to linked phone numbers, but sending those calls to an automated answering system is not a supported configuration.
How do I know forwarding is actually working?
Activate forwarding, then place a test call to your office number from a different phone, such as a coworker's cell. On services like Optimum Business Phone, the destination answering the call confirms forwarding, and some systems give a confirmation tone or announcement when you dial the code. Turn forwarding off with the disable code, such as *73, when you no longer need it.
